Hey, does anybody know how i could convert a mesh of a 3D scanned track into a heightmap and what programms i could use for that?
Blender, Max, Maya, Mudbox, etc. A quick search on YouTube will give you a bunch of results for each of these programs.
I would look into the method used for the Trbovlje MX 3D scanned track. It's the best one as far as I can tell. Great care was taken to match the ruts in the image to the track surface for a realistic feel.
