Release Notes
- the plugins interface has been changed: http://forum.mx-bikes.com/index.php?topic=96.0
- the netcode has been changed to favour smoothness over accuracy. Please report if you approve the decision
Modding:
- due to the changes to the gearbox simulation, the parameter "DisengageMaxTorque" ( under the "gearbox" section of the bike CFG file ) should be tuned. The suggested starting value is 120
I've setup a stock B9 server running Club but it seems like all that join it get a bike mismatch? Please try yourself if you can to confirm.

Anyone having problems shifting up?
Yeah others have mentioned the shifting with OEM bikes. Asdrael said he's taking a look Saturday. Bike mismatch for me as well.

I really don't understand who came up with that idea. It's horrible. Only little workaround is to activate Clutch Help, but even then you can't shift up while giving full throttle, or at least sometimes.

Please note that the clutch help is only useful to prevent the engine stall.
To change gear without lifting the throttle, the shift help must be used.

Looks like I meant that, thanks for clarifying.
It makes sense for a simulation since you can't shift the gearbox under load unless you have an auto shifter which I don't know of people using on dirt bikes. You fan the clutch or lift and shift.
Release notes updated.
Pros:I like that you can see leg swag, tearoff animation, and so far the online seems a little smoother.
Cons: I don't like the transmission change. It's way to much work too shift with clutch on the controller, and shift help makes it way too slow. Also, I think auto clutch should only work till around 10 kph, i hate coming into a corner fast and having to hit the throttle to release the clutch, and it's not easy to use a button clutch to get moving.

No need to use the clutch. Just get off the throttle a bit and you'll be fine.
I didn't like it at first, but then I got used to it and actually liked it.

Great news! Thanks! Will this affect the FLCS?
AWESOME! Thanks for the update ;D but like most, I'm having a hard time getting my head around the new shifting.
Great job on netcode! So close to Steam release now. Down to the short strokes.

Yeah it will, I'll probably do a hard reset on it, and now that the FLRS can be ran we will go with that too. Will still need to be changed to a weekend event, more than likely Saturday nights USA time
Ok thanks. After racing you guys I realize the need for blue flags. :-[
very cool thanks so much for the update

Awesome update pibs, finally multiplayer seems pretty smooth. Weekend tests will hopefully show if the server can now handle more people.
Yea the net code seems a lot better than before and bike collisions seem to work ok too (I was worried about this when you said "less accurate"). Also noticed that when I look down in VR the rider has 2 left feet ;D
Haha pretty sure I saw in normal mode that the rider has 2 left boots.. I'll check again later

Can we keep this as an option? It's appropriate for me since that's what I have.

I didn't have any luck with that I'll try updating my OS then try it again.
Haven't been online, only local and only for 10 minutes.
One thing I've noticed that I absolutely love is the 3rd person cam. Yes, I'm a 3rd person player and everything now seems so much more natural and fluent it's great!
Would it be possible to be able to adjust the FOV in 3rd person in a future update? Other than that, it's perfect.
And please, all the 1st person NAZI's don't bother replying :)

Also, it would be awesome if you could see the whole body in VR, or at least from the chest down.
I don't get why everyone says the netcode is fixed. Yes, it is an improvement, but it's still not fixed. There's still weird sh*t going on all the time. Some of which are:
1. Pitboard, white and checkered flag don't seem to work in most of the races.
2. Players just randomly disappear (also into the ground), and then all of a sudden appear again.
3. Bikes tangle together pretty often now (I think due to players disappearing and appearing again).
That's what I've seen till now. Haven't played b9 that much either.
Something that has got distinctly worse is when people join online. It used to be pretty smooth but now it seems all bikes disappear, some for several seconds, it's very jarring.

Yeah yesterday I disappeared for about half a second and reappeared.. And it was like my bike jumped forward or something.. It was brief so it wasn't a big deal but if that happens in a race it could get annoying.
The online is quite decent now, not ideal but manageable, I have a really bad connection and I can rip some close racing, gogogo piboso!
PS: now we really need the rider angle and agility fixed, he's so slow and clumsy hahaha

how can you register times?
if i host a local server it wont write, is just with world servers?
It would be really nice to see a sequential and full manual option for the transmission! ;)

If I understand correctly what you want (sequential = auto-clutch and and ignition cut so you can keep the throttle wide open when switching, GP style) it's already in. Activate "shift help" in the assists.

I tried that but the shift are very slow.
Yes the stock shift timing is set at 0.3s. I tried lowering the value but then it sometimes won't shift.
Question: how should the parameter "DisengageMaxTorque" be understood? I used the recommended value on 2 different bikes and it feels vastly different. Not sure if it's due to the primary drive ratio or something else.
Feedback from what I could see playing with stock bikes:
- First of all, thanks for the short time between beta. Really much better for the community and allows us to give you more focused feedback.
- Netcode: while riding it is MUCH better. It's not perfect by any mean as the smoothness seems to be directly and strongly dependent on ping difference. I would say anything about 100 ping is shit. But when we had good condition (3-4 players on sub 50 ping), the experience was really really great. When someone was riding with above 100-150 ping (that would make a 150 ping difference to me on this server), we started to see warping again, with occasional warping into the ground. Not sure if it's ping difference or packet-loss related. So definitely a step in the right direction. Never seen a server with more than 10 people on it though, let's see if we break that this weekend.
- On connection: When a client connects to the server you are riding on, you might warp by a couple of meters. Very disturbing experience.
- Still on connection: Still syncing for ages, even with a stock bike server. And I have a beefy computer and internet connection. There is something weird there. Also, how is the loading done? Are you loading all possible model for your server upfront and calling them when people log on? I would say it would make more sense to speed things up to go back to a phantom model, but have 1 phantom model for ALL bikes. Then you load the model when you go back to the pits (so as it used to be, but just force 1 phantom model for all and don't let modders change that).
- On collision: There is an issue with the collision boxes. It almost feels like the wheels don't collide into other wheels, so the bike frame is the thing colliding first. Which can end up in the collision spheres getting entangled.
- Gearbox: I really really like the gearbox change. Adds a layer of choice to your riding. I would even say the value of 120 could be lower, still kinda easy to shift under close to max load. The Shift Help is slow as hell tho :p But I'll stress this: we need audio feedback when miss-shifting. When you do it IRL it really is a loud grinding gear sound. In game currently there is no audio cue, so you either have to play it ultra safe (slower than the Shift Help) or play with the gear indicator on. Something like the Start sound, same kind of pitch, but faster would do the trick really.
- Physics: I still think the bike is bottoming out way too much at all suspension settings, and that the setting range is not large enough. We need to be able to add way more damping and tune the rebound much more (both + and -).
All in all, great update. I think this was the leap we needed, now we need the small increments. You can add what I typed in your Steam suggestion thread and I think we are close to a decent release.
I like the update but... what happened to shifting!? why fix what wasn't broken? I can understand the sim factor, but don't forget about the fun factor! If shift help was intended to take place of the old way of shifting it isn't working in the same fashion. :(

Hey man I tried sharing those files but one drive wont accept it unless I compress which defeats the purpose since you can't extract. Are you using win.rar to open the .pkz? If not use that it's free.

I've tried Winrar and 7zip, the problem seems to be with my PC as I can't even extract B8, which I was able to when it first came out. I get a corrupted setup error when I try to run the .exe , and a failed due to CRC when I try to extract manually but only on the bikes.pkz and tracks.pkz . As a workaround I used the files that I have installed from b8 but I'm sure I'll be missing out on the bike enhancements from b9. Maybe if it's not too much trouble could you extract the folders from the .pkz's and then zip it as a .zip or .rar and upload it in that form? It's the only other way I can think of to get it working.
Why do you want to do this though? There is zero reason to extract the .pkz.

I'm having a PC problem which won't allow me to install the game, I get a File Corrupt error when i run the installer. When I try to manually unpack the .exe with 7zip or Winrar I can extract all files except for bikes.pkz and tracks.pkz which prevents me from playing the game. When I try to extract bikes.pkz or tracks.pkz it returns with a CRC error and won't extract from the .exe installer. Within the bikes.pkz and tracks.pkz are folders carrying the same name which can be used in place of the .pkz files. I was asking if someone could please upload those folders(bikes and tracks found within bikes.pkz and tracks.pkz) to my Onedrive account linked above. This is an attempt to work around the error I am getting trying to extract the data. This is my only option as I can't contact support because it seems to be a PC problem and not a problem with the installer itself.
Suggestion about lean and tear-off mechanics.

Also:
The netcode is a lot smoother, but it seems like everyone is further behind than they actually are. As you can see in Gdub's video, which you can find below, it looks like I ran him over from behind, while on my screen I 200% passed him on the braking bumps right before the corner. I've had a lot of these funky things happen to me since Beta 9. Always getting the holeshot myself, but when watching someone's video, they get the hole shot. And no, that is definitely not a FOV problem.
https://www.youtube.com/v/Yq-xQLU8XCc
12:40 - On my screen, InSane got the holeshot and Gdub punt me from behind. In Gdub's video, Gdub himself clearly got the holeshot.
23:45 - I was well on my way when Gdub punt me from behind again. On Gdub's video, I was barely moving and Gdub only touched my front-wheel.
24:00 - I passed Gdub on the braking bumps and got into the turn in front of him. On Gdub's video, Gdub was in front of me while entering the turn and I rode straight through him in the turn itself.

These issues are due to the netcode changes that favour smoothness over accuracy.
I don't mean to sound like a little b***h, but every time I'm in a race I have to leave.
No matter what happens, I get taken out several times by others. It doesn't matter who hits who, it's always me who goes down. Very frustrating :(

It just gets old. That wasn't the only time. Also I'm normally on for a whole practice, a race starts just as I'm thinking about stopping anyway, then the whole getting taken out thing happens.
It doesn't seem intentional, it just doesn't matter how it happens I ALWAYS come off worse. If I've banged bars with someone 30 times in b9 I've gone down 30 times. Simple as that, it's not fun anymore.

That's because of the 'smoothness over accuracy'. My post where I linked Gdub's video explains it.
Even though online looks better now, the overall online experience is worse now.
The same thing goes for me in MX Sim. I have a real hard time running a complete lap. Plus, so many little kids in there that think takeouts are the way to go that it's basically the norm. I stopped getting mad years ago. Dead last FTW lol.
Overall online game play is worse now? ::)
Hmm i am not sure if you guys are becoming as toxic as the sim community or what....
But the online game play is much better than it was and the proof is that people are playing online...
Just saying I think no matter what with communities like this any little negative will out weight the positives 10x
Toxic as the sim community? I'm guessing you don't have much experience with either... And online gameplay is not a "little negative". With any online game, besides physics, online is the only thing that matters, and it either works or it doesn't. I'm not saying the online changes are better or worse than before, I'm just saying it doesn't work. Until it's smooth and predictable, it is a massive problem for this game and it's future.
My observation is that the warping and vanishing is way better and the collisions are more the problem now. Still moving forward with each beta! Keep it rollin' !
Nobody said online gameplay is worse now. I was pointing out that I'm experiencing a specific problem, it's a beta after all, if nobody points out problems then problems don't get fixed.

Neither did I. I said the online experience is worse now.
Even though it looks better. There's no way to know what's going to happen when battleling with someone. Most of the time you'll get run over or get dragged around half of the track in beta 9 without a clear indication of what happend. The experience I've had online in beta 9 is worse than beta 8.
Maybe you forgot about beta 8. You know, where the other riders were a slideshow across the track...
Ill say its an improvement to say the least. Collision issues with racing games is always an issues. Plus
the daily dev page already posted something about accuracy improvements.
Anyhow I was responding to when you actually did say that the online game play is worse...
