Bug Reports / Re: B14 Deformation Issue
May 01, 2020, 02:46:09 AM
I have noticed the same thing in B14 not just in the corners either all the ruts do it. Track deformation seems to be a huge challenge in all games for developers. There has got to be a way for developers to study how a bike moves dirt to build berms and find a way to incorporate it into the games. I cant wait for the day that they finally find that last missing piece to the puzzle. They have figured out braking and acceleration bumps pretty good now but berms are just missing something. Thanks for trying to find the issue and a fix TFC!

Tracks / Re: [RELEASE] 2019 CYCLE RANCH MX PARK!
May 01, 2020, 02:12:46 AM
You nailed it I rode this track when I stayed in Smithville TX for a few weeks and this is a perfect replica. It was a lot of fun to go back and ride it in a videogame! My only constructive criticism is the ruts in the corners are a little hard to see but that's more the games fault. MX games just havent been able to figure out how berms get built IRL I dont know if the technology just isn't there yet. The jumps were made very very well! IRL the lips are very mellow since its an open track to the public and a lot of track designers don't make their jumps like that. They design them so they throw you much higher but it is not the way they build public tracks like this IRL. The objects around the track were also on point. You have a very good grasp on how to build an amateur track and would like to see you build more. I think you would be able to build a great replica of Loretta Lynns if you ever decided to try to take on such an iconic project! This will be a great track for the rush of new players to learn how to play the game on! Bravo

Thanks for your work going to go test it out now!

Works fine for me. A brake tap in the air IRL doesnt drop your front wheel that much anyway. It actually does it more in the game then it would IRL. You just need to get used to the feeling and figure out when to hit it. Sometimes it cant save you but it works fine.

Not exactly sure which version GDUB is using because BEYER does an amazing job always improving them but you can find the latest in this post.

Quote from: Big Smooth one3 on April 01, 2020, 07:05:10 PMBump for Seattle.

Candidly, this was a tough one to build, struggled with 1 section in particular, which wasn't helped by the fact that my "free" time is extremely limited lately - but hope yall enjoy nonetheless.
I thought it rode great struggled to find a real fast line through the section right before the sand on the 250F but I am sure some of the faster guys got it figured out. Thanks for all the hard work you put into making these!!!

Quote from: PiBoSo on April 07, 2020, 11:12:31 PMIt is a code bug, that has been solved. The fix will be integrated in the next update.
UPDATE:
I just found this out! When you leave the Server if you hit the ESC button it doesn't CTD. It only crashes when you hit the menu button under where it says "Connection Timeout". I didnt know if that would help you narrow down the issue.
Thank You!! It used to happen when connecting to a server now it happens when leaving one. The world of computer code I will never understand. Thanks PiBoSo for staying on top of these things!!

Quote from: doubledragoncc on May 02, 2019, 07:24:47 PMOk............So guys I have to say thankyou, BUT, NBC SN needs a sim with high end graphics and not just the track, no disrespect Piboso it is about visuals for a major companies viewers. Unfortunately there is NO product that fulfils all of the criteria they require, but visuals for them is of utmost importance. Due to this I feel guilty having wasted your time, BUT they did look and think formost of using MXB, that says a lot to start with. Open GL and no background visuals play a big part in this. They do however recognise MXB as the first chioce if it was only to do with the physics and input/output for controllers and motion systems. So well done Piboso for at least having that status to  a major company.

Thanks to all for your help. I will put it to good use one way or another.

DD

The graphics are good enough on the replay and that's all you need it looks incredible compared to MX Sim and they are being featured on Racer X. You just spoke to the wrong people you needed to speak with Feld and they would have jumped at the chance but PiBoSo would have had to pay to use the tracks just like Milestone so before you go pitching ideas remember that plus you have to pay gear companies and possibaly sponsors. Its a mess I work in the moto media industry.

Quote from: GDUBMX on April 08, 2020, 05:45:30 PMthanks mate, this should be pinned

Hopefully, it helps some people I don't know if I could I figured a moderator should do it anyway. I am too new here and I don't want to make any waves. I am used to the MX Sim forums where people don't like new people especially giving advice. I am not saying that it's like that here so far everyone has been really nice respectful and helpful it is just what I was used to and one of the reasons I left. You are more than welcome to do with it what you like.

Eventually, I would like to put together an entire instruction thread I found so many different settings in the advanced section like how fast and hard your brakes kick in or if you want your back to brake at full power while your front is at 3/4. Same with how fast you can lean the bike or your rider it is really in-depth. I just need to know what some of the other settings do and how they work first. But like I said if you want to post it somewhere else or tell me where to pos it either way I am cool with it.

Quote from: CBM Racing on April 08, 2020, 10:32:15 AMAre you sure you put the right path in your post? I don't have C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\MX Bikes in Windows 10? There are no Steam Folders in Program Files they are in Program Files(86) at least in the Steam Game. Here is the path on my computer. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\MX Bikes

thanks for the note, I just typed down an example as for myself I don't use the default path and drive but something like E:\GAMES\Steam\...
I wanted to appeal to common sense of people to find their own Steam folder :D
Most important is to put the content of the ZIP into the Installation Directory, which is located in \Steam\steamapps\...

Thanks for letting me know I just wanted to make sure you didn't post a typo Program Files and Program Files (x86) are so similar it can confuse other people. Do you know where to find the misc folder or do I have to make one and put it in the same palace or in the documents folder so I can use the HUD? I am still so new to the game I haven't been paying much attention to anything but playing until Beta 14 came out. I figured this is a good time to learn about the rest of the game.

Quote from: Jimqc on January 06, 2019, 08:52:26 PMhello i would like to know to make a good set up suspension the bump rebound fast bump etc. it works? I started trying to change the value and I see no difference what your set up for fun ???

Here are some links about how to set up suspension. I have a video from RMATV which goes over everything that has to do with Suspension. It will tell you what to adjust by how your bike is handling. I also have a PDF from Pro Circuit they sent me and the Race Tech Suspension Bible which you normally have to pay for their classes to get. Everything they say should apply to the game minus Front Fork Sag I have never heard of that in my life but PiBoSo put it in the game for a reason. Here are the links.

These 4 tutorials should give you a very good idea of how Suspension works I added the last one because it did have a Sag setting for the front. I would just send you my setup from my Husky TC125 or Honda CRF250R but Beta 14 basically made them worthless at the moment. I hope it helps let me know. Make sure you set your Sag first do some laps and figure out what you don't like then go in and change it.

Stonerider has a great tutorial on the forum that tells you how to set your Sag you should read it.
http://forum.mx-bikes.com/index.php?topic=1463.0

I recommend having 2 setups to compare to each other. Don't worry you will get the hang of it PiBoSo is supposed to be fixing it. Last week the Suspension was bouncy but really good for cornering now its so stiff that it feels like it doesn't even compress and most of the players are losing the front end in the corners.

Quote from: AZDesertRat on March 03, 2020, 11:34:54 PMRuubs,

Since you're one of the best MXB riders I've seen I have to ask, what's the deal with the Rider L/R Lean being mapped to number pad 4 & 6 keys in your YouTube video? Do you have these mapped to specific buttons on your controller, perhaps Xbox Elite??  Just wondering if maybe digital input helps in some way with the 80% min/max smoothing setting (38 sec of video) to get quicker response or something.

Thanks,

Rat

If you take an hour or two to test out all of those advanced settings you can change a lot. For instance, you can change the Front Brake so when you pull the trigger in all the way you are not braking as hard as the game allows or if you use combined brakes you can change when the rear brake starts to kick in and how much pressure you put on it. It is pretty interesting if you want to take the time to go through all the settings and keep a record of what they all do. There are a ton of combinations you can adjust.

I think it is just how you started to learn the game in the beginning whether you use it or not. I find sometimes I use it to weight the outer peg and others I use it to lean harder into a tight turn. Its all personal preference but in a simulator, you should be able to move the rider's body not just the bike. I just wish there was a setting to have your rider sit closer or further from the gas tank by default like MXSim has. Not all Riders sit directly in the center of the bike. In real life, I ride like RV2 I steer with the Rear Wheel so I naturally sit closer to the tank and its hard when you are in the middle of a Race to just slightly hold the stick forward everywhere.

Quote from: Asdrael on March 19, 2017, 01:52:01 PMSo we have a good suspension setup guide from Stonerider found here: http://forum.mx-bikes.com/index.php?topic=1463.0

... but why is noone talking about ForkOffset and Swing Arm Length?

Those two settings have, in my experience with OEM bikes, the most influence on the actual front and rear end behaviour of the bike - their combination resuting in drastic changing in feel and balance.

Those settings can be found in the Garage / Others tab / Geometry section.

Fork offset.

It's the distance between the fork and the steering axis. Most bikes have a default value between 22 and 25mm stock. Your offset value adds/removes from that. A 2mm change is already pretty big - 10%.

Decreasing this distance by putting a negative OffSet value generally:
  • Shifts the bike weight to the front, increasing front grip, decreasing rear grip.
  • Increases bike handling, giving a feeling of more controlled and sharper turning
If you find your chosen bike a big slugish with a fuzzy front end, go with -2 and that'll do wonders. Conversly, if you feel the rear end goes everywhere and only the front is reliable, +1 or 2 will change that.

Swing Arm Length.

This is the distance between the Swing Arm pivot point and the rear axle. A standard swingarm is around 590mm. The range of change is around 30mm. There are three positions: middle (1), short (0) and long (2).

A longer swingarm:
  • Shifts bike weight to the front
  • Tends to lessen any excessive wheelie issue
  • Increases turn radius
  • Gives a bit of a sluggish feeling when turning
  • Makes the rear less twitchy when powersliding - the rear wheel will not move as much
  • Makes the rear more mobile twitchy when it starts moving while breaking hard from the front
If you find you are losing the rear uncontrollably, try to go with a longer swingarm. Conversly, if you feel the bike is very rear heavy, a setting of 0 will help. Do not forget that changing the SwingArm Length changes how the rear shock is linked to the wheel! You will need to adjust your preload!

Setting interaction.

As you can see, the impact of some SwingArm settings overlap with the Fork Offset settings. But not all. So you can really impact the behaviour of the bike this way, and a chassis you don't gel with but love the engine off can be quite extensively modified to suit your style better.

Generally, a change of 1 step in swingarm length changes the weight distribution as much as 2 steps in fork offset.

As a rule of thumb, this is valid only when your suspension are properly tuned. A change in offset / length will never stop a fork from bottoming out, or a shock from being too hard and making you lose grip because it skims over terrain. Set you sag, get a good ballpark of Bump/Rebound values. THEN change fork offset and swingarm length. You will maybe fine tune the suspension again afterwards, but you'll be at least working in the right direction.

Hope that helps!

Honestly, I spoke to my friend who was a YOT and Factory Honda Mechanic for Fonseca and he had no clue why the game would offset the forks in two different ways. Normally if you are having a hard time with tight corners you get a set of 22mm offset Triple Clamps and they work wonders but which way brings the Wheel closer to the Frame to help wit the stability of tight turning. We were guessing when it said - but he and I have ever heard of extending them forwards beyond stock that just isn't something that would work on a factory Race Bike it would make the bike handle worse like riding a chopper obviously on a smaller scale. Unless we are misunderstanding how PiBoSo has it all setup? I don't understand a lot of the settings in this game. I wish I could pick PiBoSo's brain and write up a full instruction manual of exactly what every setting is there for and how it changes the bike for all the people that are new. I know what the swingarm adjustment does that is one of the first things I do when I buy a new bike I push the wheel as far in as possible and then remove a few links from the chain so the bike is more nimble. Thanks for trying to explain it and bringing it to people's attention. As soon as I set my Sag ( another thing what's up with front Sag?) I always set my swing arm to 0 and I adjust the clamps to what I think is bringing the wheel closer in. In Beta 13 it worked wonders I immediately dropped my lap time by 2-3 seconds because I could charge into the inside lines and charge out of them. Now I am still losing the front because of how stiff he made the suspension no matter how soft I try to make it. But at least it is not bouncing anymore and tosing you over the bars. If you are interested I would love to make a Beta 14 settings guide at some point that will explain everything to the rush of people that bought the game once it was released on Steam. Most people I talk to tell me hey only change their view. They never mess with any of the settings.
Cheers
