Title: Suzuki RM 250 2t V1
Post by: 𝖙𝖋𝖈 on October 11, 2016, 07:06:25 PM
Here is V1 of the RM 250!

First off, I owe a huge thank you to Vortex Damien, RC4187, Geofanatec, H106FRP and Pacopastor34. Without your help guys I never would have got passed the basics of Blender, let alone learning how to import my bike into MXB!

Currently it's a basic 2003 (ish) RM 250, no extras. I spent a lot of time getting the scaling, shape, and in game geometry as perfect as possible, although it was very hard to get certain reference pictures so while it's a replica, it is probably inaccurate in a few minor places. Personally I think it rides and whips well, works good for SX and is just generally very fun for some wide open 2 stroke action!

I've put literally hundreds of hours into this project, it's probably not going to be the most popular bike but I made it because it's one of my all time favorite bikes and MXB for me wouldn't be complete without it. I hope you guys get some fun out of it too.

Lol awesome BadStar. Well we have a few 250 2 strokes now right? Maybe we should organise a fun race. I want a smokey track!

Just want to say, Thanks again!

I ride this every time I am not in a mx2 mood and its awesome!!    Paleta v2 and this bike is Nirvana... especially with Nirvana's on in the background  8)

To poke the bear a little (for fun really)

You are so close to having a drz model its crazy.. the drz(sm)has basically this frame and it has RM suspension (unlike the S/E models). DRZsm's are obviously not "baddazz" bikes but in the real world they are highly popular and could help piboso bring in some more folks. (my drz skin on the msm actually created some sales(tiny I am sure)when I posted it on drzsm forums)

-put msm 4 stroke engine ( is that impossible?)
-add stock headlight or preferably trail tech x2 style
-tail light? "EDGE 2" is tiny and wouldn't require a ton of work (lol, coming from someone who knows nothing of modeling)

Done, first true all terrain/dual sport bike in-game     :P :P :P :P ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) ;) ;) ;)

Just poking a little, Love this bike though man!!!

Can you post a pic of one? All the ones I've seen have entirely different plastics.
Title: Re: Suzuki RM 250 2t V1
Post by: BadStar on October 18, 2016, 08:05:53 PM
I am more or less just dreaming because they are similar..but yea man, plenty different and may not be worth an effort honestly..

(this one has low pro seat, so ignore) a couple minor plastic differences.

Sorry dude I didn't aknowledge that, at work, had to be quick.. No problem glad you like it!

There is however a big glaring problem with the drz..

It's a 4 stroke!!

Haha. Indeed, that is a problem.

I've got no problem with the idea of making a 250 2 stroke supermoto out of this.. May even find the time to make a front light cluster / tail light / shorter front fender.. But the changes are far more than just plastics!

Can't promise on timeframe though! How does that sound?

Post by: 𝖙𝖋𝖈 on February 16, 2017, 11:05:02 PM
OK.. Sorry BadStar / Mace.. Never got around to any kind of Supermoto mod here.

But, I'm updating the model slightly and making 2 versions, a 125 and a 250. Asdrael is kindly going to create the geom and engine files for standard and OEM versions.
So my question to anyone interested, how happy are you guys with the model? Do you think anything needs a tweak?

I'm going to be adding a bigger pipe on the 250, and maybe swapping the bars for twin walls.

Feedback welcome ;)

The model is spot on I think, the 1st person view and power for me needed some work.  It just  seems to flat with no sense of power,  my cr 250 was awesome,  you pulled the throttle back and it just sprung to life.  This one just doesn't feel like that haha.  It's probably my shit riding though to be honest mate
Title: Re: Suzuki RM 250 2t V1
Post by: 𝖙𝖋𝖈 on February 17, 2017, 05:59:25 AM
No you're spot on about the engine, but that will be changing. Good to know the model is OK, lack of reference pics made it tough going.

There Will be a template, sure I included one, if I didn't then sorry for that, I'll make sure one is included in the next release,
Title: Re: Suzuki RM 250 2t V1
Post by: Asdrael on February 17, 2017, 10:16:55 AM
Model looks great, a rough geom try shows it fits perfectly with the expected dimensions. The problem is, Suzuki started using "classical" rear linkage geometry in 2004 only. The 2003 version is... erm.... "weird" and I have no idea how to reproduce it in BikeEd. Might have to cheat and do a 2004 one.
Title: Re: Suzuki RM 250 2t V1
Post by: 𝖙𝖋𝖈 on February 17, 2017, 11:23:58 AM
2004 or on would be fine, I started on an 03 but due to lack of references I used most years from time to time. I didn't notice any major differences :D thanks again!

Wow, it's looking great.
Recently my friend customized a Suzuki Dirt bike with the help of MXProDecals. That bike also looking amazing.

Very cool..

So I'm just about done with the model. Current list of fixes are:

+ Increased overall width of bike
+ thickened swingarm
+ Increased rear shock spring segments
+ Fixed rear fender, now not as deep and fat and now narrows towards back slightly
+ Fixed handlebars angle, and reshaped them according to Renthal real world dimensions
+ Fixed the size of the bar pad
+ Fixed norm bugs on levers, reshaped and rearranged lever angle and hoses
+ Fixed how the seat sits against the tank
+ Fixed seat height and overall shape
+ Fixed lots of shading and normal errors around the edges of plastics
+ Added a lip around the edge inside the rear number plates
+ Resized silencer to fit better in line with a 250 aftermarket. Will be making a smaller pipe for the 125

Overall it's looking much better than before, more realistic and cleaner. Should be ready to give both a 125 and 250 model over to Asdrael over the next few days. Then I will be looking at maybe making a 'race' version of both bikes. These will come with handguards, a front disc cover, maybe reshaped rear number plates, Renthal twinwalls.. Not sure what else yet or if I have time but would be nice.

Yup, Orange spokes.. It's a shame you can't assign a different wheel texture to 'base'. I'm not exporting a PNT every time I want to see my latest changes in game though. Wait.. Can you?
Title: Re: Suzuki RM 250 2t V1
Post by: Asdrael on March 03, 2017, 11:21:33 AM
You can, albeit indirectly.

1.Create a new paint with only wheels Inside.

2. In the .ini file of the bike, make the default paint point at the newly created one with only wheel Inside.

You'll have the base paint of the bike use your "built-in" bike skin + your set of custom wheels.

I'm not sure what you mean about the blue mace, but thanks ;).. H106FRP is looking to take the model after I've finished updating it to make a supermoto version for GPB.. I assume it's interchangable with MXB.

OK, 125 and 250 models officially handed over to Asdrael for the OEM treatment :D Plastics template done, normal map finished. Just a couple of paints to do and once Asdrael is done it should be ready for V2.

Well, looks like it's going to be a 2003/2004 hybrid. I have all the specs I need, but the 2003 was the latest build with the reverse linkage at the rear. As far as I know, there is no way to properly import that. So I'm using the 2004 linkage geometry but with all the 2003 specs. The 125 is 92kg all liquids full, going to be fun :p

Well, it's all in the hands of TFC now. I have done my part (unless I majorly messed up something...). Models look GREAT in game, and their handling is probably the most fun I had on MXB lately  ;D
