Title: Show us a whip please.
Post by: Reaper on May 11, 2014, 09:37:07 AM
I've heard some rumors that this game won't be what people expect. (hopefully not true). Lots of what I heard is that the game is going to simulate an arcade trails riding game with small jumps. Can we see a big whip over a big ass table top ?

I'm not wanting anything actually. I just would like to know if this is going to simulate riding a real bike. If it does, then cool, the game can come out in 2016. I'm in no rush.

Plus, with see the pics, there is already rider movement on the bike.

Of course everyone will be disappointed, to some degree. This is because everyone has different expectations about how MX Bikes should be: someone wants a new MXvsATV, someone wants a new MX Simulator, ...
Truth is, MX Bikes is completely different than anything you tried before, and alpha1 will be a work in progress.

We already know enough about this game to know thats wrong- from the info provided.

yes we haven't played it yet but I thought even the videos gave that much away. I dont think these tactics are going to get piboso to show us anything that isnt planned to be shown. And at the end of the day it is what it is. If you aren't happy with it when it's released,  do you expect it to be completely overhauled? If you've played any piboso release then you should know what to expect, it will be anything but arcade.

I just want a game that is realistic and true to motocross ..I dont want a game that's hard just for the sake of being hard because its a sim .. Its not hard to just ride around on a dirt bike  ...3 year olds can do it ...being fast is where the difficult factor comes in...

I agree with this a 100%. I still want more a mxsim type of game than a mva type though, but I'm sure that's going to happen.

Agree geo. Mxs feels like it lacks the physics of a bike straightening up when power is put through the wheels. Ruins the whole game for me, maybe its just me.. hope I dont get assaulted with mxs vids now lol

I agree with you guys 100% ...Especially the part about about just trying to put around in MX Sim ...

This thread wasn't asking for the game to be released now, wasn't asking for a release date, etc. Just wondering if we could see picture of a whip. If it can't be done yet, then fine, no biggie. If it can, it can. I'm not wanting the game to be like any other in particular, as long as the bike physics can't be manipulated like in MXS where people can do backflips from a dead stand still on flat ground, lol.

Take your time with the release, do what you gotta do, I was just hoping for a screenshot.

Hmm, I think I missed that photo too. Dang meaningless subject titles in development forum. As for images getting out, why not just add a watermark on the photos saying pre-alpha all over the entire photo? Would that be obvious enough from developer to let viewing eyes know what it is they are looking at?

Really? Either your a facebook guy or you just took my post the wrong way. lol  First off, the development section was available to anyone who signed up with these forums. Did you honestly think that people would come on here and register to post a comment and see pictures and not start spreading things around. If you thought that wouldn't happen, well then, I don't know what to tell ya.

Oh and for your second comment, no need to be like that.  Don't know why you had to come off that way.

You could of just kept your first sentence to prove your point.

This is already starting to remind me of the Mx Simulator community.    :(

PiBoSo asked to not share screenshots, nothing more. Why do it then?

Doing things like that will just make devs (PiBoSo and Snappe) post very few previews instead of giving the opportunity to see what will come in future...

Sure. But did you actually read what I posted? With the majority of the gaming community being kids, anyone that has the knowledge and know how to create a game should know better. That isn't what I was getting at to begin with. All I said is that if it was me, I would want the word to spread. Instead, a smart ass comment, just like the MXS community(kids)

Oh god. To break it down for some people. Here ya go.

1. The majority of the gaming community are kids.
2. Therefore, the creator of the game should know better to post screenshots of something that they don't want spreading around knowing the community
    are kids.
3. Yet, he still had to post he comment which was uncalled for after me asking him if I can help advertise his game on my website.
4. Direct PM message from Piboso    ---->    Feel free to post MX Bikes news on your website.
5. That is why I was talking about what the big deal was for spreading a few pictures around.(If he told me it was ok, didn't think it mattered for others)
6. I was thinking that he would want the word to get out after him giving me the go ahead to post Mx Bikes news on my website.
7. And yes, I realize the comment came from the developer, which makes me think of JLV comments and his MXS forums community.

Why are we still arguing? This thread is useless, if you want to see a whip, go check the dev forums you lazy bum. And guys, why do we have to argue? If you keep the arguing going yourself, then you too are a kid. Be the bigger person and ignore them. Now, i say we stop all of this non needed arguing and start getting hyped up for this amazing piece of art called MX Bikes

It doesn't matter, these forums will turn into MXS forum highschool girl drama situations sooner or later, and I want no part in it. I'm out.

Every single post has been negative or trying to be manipulative/passive aggressive. How about slapping on a "pre-alpha" watermark over the dang images and posting them like a normal human instead of acting like this is the NSA. Most indie game devs, especially ones who enjoy community envolvement, are proud of showing off the progress of a game. Kid asks a simple question and everyone goes nuts...the heat and full moon are in full affect lol.

What's with referring to every poster on the internet as a "Kid" ?    Reaper's 33 years old....  lol      Thanks for the back support Johnny for what its worth.

Most game development companies or individuals for that matter would use an NDA that had to be agreed to before you could access the forum.   This was not the case here so Don't be surprised if the photos are all over the net by now.   For those of you unfamiliar with beta testing an NDA or Non Disclosure Agreement pretty much says any content you view in said forums is under ownership of said game developer and may not be shared without the full consent of the developer.    This was not the case here in MX-Bikes so PiBoSo is lucky his screenshots aren't all over the place by now.    Reaper never said he wanted to spread them around.. he only asked for a screenshot of the infamous "whip" and the response he got from both the developer and the fledgling community here was pretty piss poor.     I think everyone needs to take a step back...  drink a beer....  toke... whatever you do to mellow out.... and mellow the hell out.

We all want the same thing here... a good MX game.

I don't know if it's really possible to have a "mature" community when it involves MX unfortunately :P Yeah there's a handful of good people here already but MX in general just seems to attract younger people by the swarms. Not to say anything bad about anyone, either. If only people showed their "track etiquette" on the forums this place would be awesome. I remember when I was real young at the track and my bike ran out of fuel on the track and an older guy came up to me with his fuel jug and generously filled me up so I could continue riding.

Or just go to the GP bikes forums. That place is nice guy haven over there. They help you out, google stuff for you, massage your shoulders and even say good-bye before you close your browser.

My apologies for writing kid lol. Im older than him still so there's that. Sorry Reaper. Oh well, NDA's are for AAA titles, and like I said, indie devs, especially ones who look for crowd funding or just seem to enjoy community envolvement, have simple monthly blogs or a video of progress with seeming proud enjoyment of showing progress. This is a game being released in alpha state and the argument is about the release of alpha photos being released. Like I said, it makes no sense but if that's the dev's prerogative, I follow it. Original question was worth posting.

This community has been shaping up very well. You just can't go off on people, especially the dev just because he had a witty remark. People are helpful here. The main thing to keep in mind is if you go off on someone, since there a good amount of young kids here, someone will probably not think and go off on you for no reason. Just think before posting. I've said this so many times. Just be chill.

Not 100% true. I'm playing mxsim maybe once a week, 30 minutes, and still get 2nd in every championship I ride in (European ones, I'm not grazy enough to get outta my bed at 2am to ride the American events  :P).

I've had the game since December 2009 or 2010, I guess 2010. You should actually not play around with your setup the whole time, just use the stability slider and start from like 25, go lower, if you're getting worse, try a higher number, if you get worse, go back to 25, if you get better, keep it on the higher or lower number.

I won't share my setup because IMO people should use someone else's advanced setup, I've done a few time too, but it always turned out wrong. You just need to play all different kind of tracks, gets used to the physics and be able to ride clean laps. If you're clean for 15 laps you can try getting a little faster.

Yes, I use a xbox360 controller, and I don't change anything in the config file.

Ride in your comfort zone, don't go too fast, just keep calm.

Nah, i just like to do about 5 whips then quit with rage. Been like that for the past 3 years now... Probably shredded 20 years of my life expectancy due to anger  ;D
