+1

I've been checking back on the forum every few weeks to see if there has been a release... nothing so far. I understand the draw to MX Bikes, for, well, MX.... but Piboso put ALOT of work into making mixed surfaces work! I don't understand why the track making gods haven't blessed us with at least one SM track to enjoy. Holjes gets boring after you've put down enough laps to win an endurance competition.  ::)

Just so this thread isn't a total waste, here is two early beta WRS RX courses that can be loaded up in MXB and have mixed surface, a few small jumps, and a decent layout.

Personally I've been busy with other things, can't speak for anyone else of course :(..

I don't want to sound rude here, or arrogant - that is not my intention - but I came here for motocross.. I have interest in supermoto but not nearly as much as MX. Yes you're right on one hand PiBoSo put a lot of work into getting supermoto into the game, although it goes hand in hand with WRS as far as track making goes having it is a great addition, but I'd rather see it draw it's own creativity crowd along with it's main audience.

I may not have worded that right, I meant the enigma that is track makers in general (people that post up a track and disappear as fast as they showed up), nobody specific and definitely not the guys making outstanding MX tracks for the sim. Much like MXS the supermoto stuff is few and far between and usually someone totally outside of the inner circle of people that do the quality national and SX tracks for the sims.

You guys that make the MX courses, keep on keepin' on! I love the work you all put into this and am always in awe that you can create an environment that truly feels like the venue it is based on. Pretty sure my years of lurking on the MXS forum I've seen most of the regular names here, over there, and I always appreciated the work and dedication you put into making MXS so much more than just a good platform to work from. The models, the tracks, and the overall dedication it takes to make it all happen always, ALWAYS impresses upon me the sheer magnitude of man hours it takes to make nationals and SX seasons happen on any platform of simulator.

So please don't take my first reply as anything more than being extremely hopeful that someone releases a SM circuit. I'm still having a riot of a time with A7000, Holjes, the two RX beta's I posted the links to, and many, many, many KRP tracks and even some stuff I dug up from back in the earlier days of GP Bikes. There is no shortage of places to ride, things to do, and bikes to master.  ;)

When you guys are talking about an SM track, do you mean both asphalt and dirt? Or would you be happy with just asphalt as well?

I think most people who are interested are dying for a genuine asphalt and dirt with jumps track..

Grimm, sorry mate.. Was on my phone and didn't want to type out a huge message.

I appreciate what you're saying, I know you weren't talking about anyone in particular just thought I'd chime in as I saw the post ;D.. I think part of the reason is also that most people here don't have much experience with track surface as an object, whereas on GPB most people don't have experience with heightmaps.

Maybe a collaboration is in order?

Just a question for you Fats.

You did use an asphalt object on one of your tracks, didn't you? Is that object what you have to use to make an SM track? Or is this something completely different? That's one of the few things I haven't messed around with.

Yeah I used an object with trk conc for the tarmac pit and viewing area on tnmx. Nothing more than a plane with those attributes.

However, a plane is very different from a realistic track surface.. I've learned blender and modelling but I'd dread to make a genuine track :p

Oh, I think RiccoChicco was trying to make a supermoto track back in beta 3..  He asked me for help which I did at the time and found out in beta 3 it was impossible as you couldn't spawn on an object.. No idea if he ever followed it up..

Hm alright. I might have to try some things then.

I don't know Blender very well, but I know it isn't that hard in 3Ds Max. You just draw a line, add some modifiers and you got yourself a road already. Yes, making a race-able, good looking road will be harder than that, but the basic road isn't that hard to be honest.

That's one thing too.. I noticed if the heightmap is too close underneath the plane you get bad flickering which really rules out the 'gradual slope' approach which was my first attempt.. Instead I went with carving out blocks deep and smoothing the edges as little as possible while moving the plane up to try and meet ground level as best as possible. Bit of a pain  ;D

Hey everyone. :)

Would it be possible to create an all tarmac supermoto track with just the road surface similar to Pleven in Bulgaria.

most SM tracks are not like the one in the video (all concrete).  Some are literally almost all MX/SX but the turns and maybe a back straight or two are asphalt .

So, the MX'r guys could still enjoy a good SM track considering if its mostly MX

Very possible... but not sure anyone knows how yet  (talking about the ones who are interested/willing..like me)
