Title: Wanted: streamer/recorder to record 2016 Gtx Pro 250 Nationals
Post by: GDUBMX on September 22, 2016, 08:54:45 AM
Due to a buggy/non working server replay function we are unable to record the series ourselves.

We are looking for a dedicated guy with the capabilities to record  16 motos in 1080p 60fps.

Ideally you need to still join the races but spectate in freeroam to get some good footage of battles, passes, riders, crashes etc.  You need to be setup with your replay controls so you don't have to keep opening the hud to change cameras etc and be smooth with your camera controlling.  You want to make it as editless as possible really.

Would be awesome if you have the following.
Good pc. With good ram, video card,  etc.
Fast Internet.
Video editing skills and software to compress etc.
Bonus: Adobe premier skill to create animated overlay like you see on TV.

Once both motos are recorded,  you will need to upload and send to me so I can add overlay (non animated..  Unfortunately) I don't have the skill)

I will even throw you some cash,  heck I'm sure if it's good enough we could all chip in and bump it up.

Would be helping us out massively!  I would so it myself but I missed the last series and really wanna race this series,  plus I don't have lots of time to spend learning premier etc.

Really appreciate it guys and who knows where this could take us.  I already have sponsors on board and as this thing rolls forward it could gain more momentum and get bigger.

I've asked Kristoffer AKA Storken AKA Mx Simulator EMF streamer if he's interested. Waiting for an answer. I don't really think he'll do it though, he's a busy man as well and I don't think he even has Mx Bikes. Worth a try tho!

Is that it? Or did I get that wrong???

And of course, if tracks used in the championship have working replay cams they should be used along with selecting a rider to follow for streaming, as it takes the 'fly around looking for riders' aspect to a minimum..

I was also planning on releasing a 2k version of mxbc compound as I think it's the only one in the list with 4k textures, so I might work on cams for it too..

If anyone wants to make cams for other tracks that might be missing them feel free to, you only need the game track to make cams you don't need the project folder :)

Storken won't be able to stream for us.
He doesn't have the game and he has limited data, so he won't be able to upload long good quality 1080p videos.

I asked him if he knows anyone else who might want to stream.

Yup, just checked out the PiBoSo board and MaX is saying - basically:

It only works on live replays. It doesn't work if you scroll 'back in time' and it doesn't work on loaded replays..

So, for live streaming coupled with using replay cams it should work a treat..

I've not checked it out though, are there any customisable elements? You know, like the way the helmet overlay works, or is it all preset in layout / design?

There are only a few widget that work in replays / live replays: not 100% sure but in the version that is out (2.0.2) it may be only the "speed" widget.
The next version (with MXB beta5) will allow to have also the track map and the standings.

There're no customisable elements at the moment (except the usual stuff: the widget options, background yes/no, some colors etc).

Oh OK, maybe it was the other way around then: map and standings already available (in replays/spectating I mean) and the Speed widget was not.

The Speed widget will  be able to show speed, gear, throttle and brake of the bike you're on (or the bike you're spectating/watching)so in principle it could be made look like what you usually see on TV (at least, in motogp, for mx I'm not sure it's relevant).

Your only challenge is to avoid the space-theme vocabulary.

No "this guy just skyrocketted after a core.exe".
No "and we have a lift off!"
No "and it looks like he's coming back to earth side ways... hah no that's he netcode".

Good luck.

8PM Saturdays!!!! Thats beer drinkin time lol. Not a problem as far as I can think.

I will make an overview for the stream advertising EKS and MXB too.

Heres a few live streams from GPBOC racing to give you an idea how I do it. I will need to sign on for online racing and et used to MXB style races.

I now have a new BM8000 Mic and C920 webcam so will be better audio and pic in pic. If you can arrange any boxes for EKS to have behind me would be good to advertise them too. Will do my best for you guys but it takes time to learn riders names and to know who is who.

Tbh, unless it is completely horribly coded, bandwidth doesn't have much to do with warping / freezes - especially with such a limited amount of moving objects and information linked to each one of them. Latency and packet loss however, does.

But it appears the problem is more code-related than anything curently. Out of curiosity, I'd be really interested in what kind of information goes through the server and how it is formated and treated. You have what, bike XYZ+angle, same for rider relative to the bike, speed, fork and shock travel value, steering angle, wheel rotation speed, rpms, gear. Rest can be done client side, unless you want to make it hack-proof. Then you probably have to sample this what, 50/s? and interpolate as needed?

Interpolation sounds easy but is normally not enough: you can't interpolate between a known state and a state you don't know yet :)

Usually you have something more like a predictive model corrected by the new data coming in. Most likely you don't need the entire bike state vector, i.e. the predictive model is simpler than the bike physics model. As an example, states related to chassis flexibility may not be exchanged between the client and the server (and hence between the sever and the other clients).
You just need anything that is obviously visible (bike position and attitude, steering angle, position of the suspension, ...) plus whatever the client needs to predict the state in between data packets (this is for the other bikes of course the local bike is fully simulated, non need for prediction) and whatever you need for sound (RPM, throttle position). Gear is currently not passed between the server and client (but will be in next beta for both GPB and MXB).

As UDP is used, server and client side you have to deal with missing packets and packets arriving in the wrong order.

And I doubt PiBoSo is willing to document the exact format exchanged by client and server :)

In fact the only part you need to make hack-proof is the other one (i.e. client --> server) as in the sense server--> client you would only hack the state of the other bikes on a specific client (i.e. the server would still "see" the correct state).

Good points - by interpolation I meant to fill the gaps between state updates and framerates, but ofc you need a predictive model. With a high exchange rate like 50/s, something linear is ultra easy and probably 99% accurate.

But still curious to see how it goes here ;)

Geo, things seem pretty good on the server, I played with I think 4 people, although I think they were all in / around Europe.

Seemed generally fine, bit of slight glitching from other riders near the ground, but no massive rubber banding or freezing, really nothing major :)

Hard to say without a) more people than 4 on one stretch of track and b) people from across the Atlantic.

But for 4, it seemed pretty solid. Dare I say if we had collisions on there wouldn't have been any problems (not that I'm advocating collisions ;))

Well no wonder!!!

Got it working, got online after 10 mins crashed and then MXB would not start, 15th or 20th install and is working for now.

I need you guys to practice so I can set up OBS to record n stream BUT.....................

The track cams suck big time!!!

There is no real track cams as in GPB that follow a rider round the track and make it impossible to get a good kind of  TV style coverage!!! How am I supposed to cover a race if most cams are miles from the track or in a barn???

PiBoSo or Snapped (or anyone) does the camera file transfer from server to joined users like the race data does? If so, I can make a camera file for server.

If not, will a "modded" camera file on DDs PC keep him from being able to join?

Answer no to both, I'm 99.99% sure.

Yeah the js7 are great cams but ain't amazing for the TV style stuff mate.  I can hand on heart say that Glen Helen is perfect for it as I made the cams purposely from a TV perspective :)

I guess it died before it really started. Due to the TERRIBLE quality in replay with bikes juddering and flickering so badly and hanging for ages that it was not a possibility to stream. I worked all week to try and get this working to no avail as the netcode would not play along with us lol.

Oh well guess we all wait in MXB for netcode too lol.

Sorry but I did try.

Thanks a lot for trying to set this up.

And sorry for the let down with the JS7 cams - I did them, but I have to admit I am not good at it and I didn't have the patience to figure out why sometimes cameras were "crossing lanes" etc. So thanks for updating these ;)
