Awesome! I started modelling one a while back and life got too busy. I'm still very busy, but I really want to see this in game. If nobody else offers to help I can but can't promise how quickly it will happen :)

thanks mate yeah i think i will re do a few things when its closed to being done.
man the crf is looking awesome. is that with normals applied or do you have subsurface mod on because it looks so clean.
also was thinking without having wheels it will be hard to do the chain and swingarm and the width of some things but i guess i will do them then just fix them up when wheels are done

What your seeing is yes the high poly, always start with your highpoly ;)... but by the end it should look pretty similar

Looking good damo!

Alex, the example blend has all the reference points you will need. Open it up and look for yourself ;)

Also, the chain is done to align to the front sprocket while the rear sprocket on the rear wheel is static. If you're using standard Pib wheels that is, you match the front in the GFX file.

think damien is going to make some but im going to have a go at making some also. they are superminis  so cant use the stock ones. the stock ones eve look to big for the bigger bikes imo. suprised there is no other wheels out there

thanks man. its pretty much all done. will do some renders of it later today. just small things to go. maybe have to re map some things. i made it pretty detailed so its no lo-poly masterpeice but not sure if it was all going to work so if not atleast have something to do renders with. but hopefully it works out. keen to model some more. the shroud is done by tfc btw

150? :o Where did you sneak in all those polygons? My kawi model is 30k atm and almost finished. I'm definitely going to add some more detail in certain parts though.
Title: Re: upcoming models
Post by: Alex on October 27, 2017, 12:40:59 PM
just on small detail shit no one will even notice probably. calipers, front brake and clutch levers etc. but i modeled the thread on the shock and stuff like that that can just be textured for game.

Oh okay, sounds good. Perhaps I can modify my kawi into an 85 as well, but I doubt I can.. The 85 looks way different. A 2 stroke version would work though.
Title: Re: upcoming models
Post by: Ruubs on October 28, 2017, 12:14:48 AM

Some people will say my barpad has unnecessary polygons. I say that I saved lots of polygons on other parts so I can make my front-end a higher polygon count for first-person players. I know I can have a different model for first-person in Mx Bikes (I can, can't I?). However, I'm also making this model for Mx Simulator, which doesn't support that.

Current polygon count:
14.778 faces
27.646 tris

Release for Mx Bikes will probably be the same as Damien did with his models. Stock bike release, source files for sale.

Things to do:
Brake calipers
Cables
Handlebar stuff
Finish details like bolts etc.
Unwrapping
High-poly modelling
Baking
Texturing

Animations would be cool, I'm definitely going to look into it.
Proper dirt textures are planned off course!
I think I'll make this Mx Bikes model a bit different to the Mx Sim one. The Mx Bikes model will have different uv mapping and different first- and thirdperson models. I'm planning to do the uv mapping like Snappe did with the MSM bikes and release the plastics uv for free. That way everyone can still add custom paints to the bike, without having to buy the whole source file package.

The release will be later than Mx Sim's release though.
Title: Re: upcoming models
Post by: Alex on October 28, 2017, 01:32:18 AM
the moment i started to enjoy making models was when i stopped stressing over polycount.  just do whatever looks good/works for you. in sim bikes these days are around 70 to 120k. and thats sim....alot more demanding on pc with models etc. with mxb i wouldnt worry at all. i put my hi poly kx into sim once and it didnt do shit. i think the poly count comes more into play when u have 40 people lined up on gate....online. i would rather have hiigher poly detailed good looking bike then something average and lo poly u know.

Go sandy, full 3d models for bikes (Highpoly) usually sells for around $100, i see no wrong on selling them, is your work, and thanks for releasing a free mx bikes version, cheers!

Seriously? Triple or more of game itself and you would pay that for many bikes created?

Guess I'll get to work ;)

Usually a 3d artist´s hourly rate is around $15-$25 depending on the level, just think on how many hours you have to put in order to make a bike, considering 3d model, texturing, rigging, materials, etc.

We bought a T-rex model for $300 rigged, it was for a $10000 bugdet project and with a very tight deadline and would take a person in the studio at least a week, 3d artists earn around $40-50 a day so $300 is not that expensive, everything depends on what are you using the model on.

examples:
https://hum3d.com/3d-models/honda-crf1000l-africa-twin-2016/
https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/kawasaki-kx-250-f-max/799890

now, asking $100 for a bike for a game mod is utterly stupid!
a bike mod, if it is sold should be around $2-3, no more than that because is expected to sell a large amount.
Title: Re: upcoming models
Post by: Mace-x on October 28, 2017, 04:56:25 AM
Of course and i´m in favour of that, i´d consider as payment the amazing mods other people comes with and the amount of hours i´ve put into the game  :)

And come on, you do a freaking lot amount of things here investing your own money without asking nothing in return so you rock, it´s all part of a great and fun community, i guess that´s why sandy wont ask for money aswell for his bike  :D

Yes I am. Trying to finish it before January but theres still a lot to do.

Low poly details and small parts
Highpoly
Unwrapping
Baking
Texturing

Highpoly and unwrapping will probably take the longest. I have a couple of days off work next week though, so that's good. Can spend all my spare time on this model.

Sounds good. I can also double check your files before your release if you need consulting :p The only thing I can say is, with a well made model it's very easy to do a good OEM geometry (TFC RM and Vortex CRF450 were the tits for that).
Title: Re: upcoming models
Post by: Ruubs on November 04, 2017, 07:24:17 PM
Shouldn't be too much of a problem I think. My bike is modelled so it works with Mx Simulator. Mx Sim's rider sits in a pre-defined position. No way to change it's hand of leg position etc so every model has to be modelled regarding the rider. I might scale some things differently for Mx Bikes once I'm done for Mx Sim. I want to change up the UV map anyway.

I would totally recommend letting Asdrael work his magic.. The results are top notch and stress free.

Not letting him do it would be like having a factory team and mechanic and struggling through mechanical jobs yourself while your mechanic sits and plays on his phone lol ;D
Title: Re: upcoming models
Post by: Ruubs on November 05, 2017, 02:42:51 PM

To be fair I've no idea what's left on low-poly modelling really.

Obviously have to update my rear brake caliper and look at all the inside plastics (especially rear fender). Other than that I THINK it's only handlebars, cables and bolts left.

Thanks Paco. Bummer I don't see how good I am myself.

I'm a perfectionist, I'm competitive, I want to be the best. Looking at better modellers makes me demotivated and angry, which cause me to model worse for some reason. I couldn't make a proper clutch lever yesterday so I quit that. Will continue on that lever some other day. I really have to get rid of my bad habits of being perfectionist etc.
Title: Re: upcoming models

some things not done/missing/textured because if it end up working in game then i will re do them just stuff like footpegs-choke switch -new front brake lever.  otherwise was still a fun model to work on.

Im glad you are enjoying those RM plastics that where sent to you in exchange for the KX release
Title: Re: upcoming models
Post by: 𝖙𝖋𝖈 on December 11, 2017, 06:49:03 PM
If you have a bad exchange with someone in private why bring it to the public?

If you're not interested in releasing anything for the community then why are you here?

If I had of known you were never planning on releasing the supermini then I never would have sent you the blend containing the shrouds. Forgetting the KX for a minute, because you have a falling out with one person the whole community is whack?

Better perspective: There are creators and players.. There are way too few creators to satisfy the player base. What you've just said is massively in spite of all the hard work people have put into tracks, bikes, mods, paints and anything custom that we have because people put the work in for the community, not just for themselves.

Think about it. If you want to make things for MXB but don't want to release them then that's your choice. But please don't post things in the 'Upcoming Models' thread or in any way act like what you're doing is "for the community".

And definitely don't ask for any more favours or help.

Disagreed. There's an abundance of creators here. It seems that 80% of the regulars here are creators and it seems like almost a prerequisite to acceptance in the community. Also, if you show another face in private messages and rage on someone, then usually you get outed since that's pretty fake IMO.

I think it's more that you hear a lot more from creators on here because naturally they want to drive the community so are more talkative.

Definitely wouldn't want to think it's a requirement to be accepted. Does it feel like that? Granted people who introduce themselves with the story of contributing probably get a better reception..

the irony. angry for showing a discord message publicly yet you all seem to be fine with using ripped models that were private and now public. noobs man. if that cunt didnt say shit like 'You could never get it in game..........not too worried even for you' then i wouldnt of but.....what goes around comes around.

Very nice.. but if you don't plan on releasing it, you shouldn't post it in the 'upcoming models' thread. Maybe like a renders thread or something?

also you do realise i started this thread? maybe its MY upcoming models for ME?  ;)

You do realize TFC has bikes in game, along with many many tracks right?

Which model was a rip?

Technically, the tech10 yes........but not really.

It is no different than buying off turbosquid, as long as I don't sell it. Hence where the MSR boots and Wheels came from (and honestly a lot of other content around came from "other" sources) just so I can make it work in game and not worry about spending months modeling something that has already been modeled. No reason to re-invent the wheel twice :)

And not to mention the Tech7 boots I put in game for you as well, but guess you decided to remove.

Either way, now I can help others get their content in game as well (the whole point anyway).

The irony is the very very beginning of this entire thread:

Why don't you do something similar like Jre on mxs. Set a price goal for the bikes, Make a minimum donation of $5 and lets say as an example $100 all up from people donating the bike gets released? or heck id buy both those bikes from the looks of your rm and kx you have quality content and i would be happy to donate.
