Release Notes
This update was supposed to be published on the 30th of September, to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Beta1 release. Happy belated birthday to MX Bikes!

- replays are not compatible with previous versions

- please note that this is only the first iteration of the straight rhythm implementation. At the moment only the practice round is supported. Please leave your feedback so it can be improved in future updates.
-- Also, please note that at the moment plugins and live timing don't work with straight rhythm.

- the tyres' parameters have been tuned
- the rider's physics has been improved

- now all servers are shown in MX Bikes, even those using a track that is not installed
- VR support updated

- many settings have been moved from mxbikes.ini to global.ini: http://forum.mx-bikes.com/index.php?topic=198.0
- the sound volume of the remote bikes is now lower than the local bike ( on track only, not in replays or spectating )
-- it is possible to change the volume: http://forum.mx-bikes.com/index.php?topic=686.msg35401#msg35401

Modding
- it is now possible to set multiple categories in a bike INI file. For example:
cat = MX1/MX2
( please note that there must be no spaces before and after the slash )
- support for bridges has been improved
- all modding-related settings have been moved from mxbikes.ini to global.ini, too:

I also think the same thing. This exit on steam is a good thing. We are super happy and want a lot of new things.

Will we have mods in the future via the workshop?

Happy Birthday MXBIKES and thanks to PiBoSo and crew for the great build. I did notice that the lean on the supermoto works brilliantly on Asphalt but on Dirt, it seems like a collision sphere on the front of the bike is causing the front to become unstable as if the forks are getting stuck in the dirt. Very odd.

Happy birthday MXBikes and congratulations on the Steam pre-release :) You've gone a long way since beta1.

I played b12 quite a bit now and have, as usual, some feedback on the changes.

- Rider autolean F/B help forced:
Just allow us to disable it completely. Some people like it, some basically can't ride with it (me included). The virtual rider often has no logical behaviour and induces detrimental weight distribution changes, on top of VERY jerky movement in first person. It's, at least for me, nauseating sometimes. Also, as discusses extensively with Snappe, it makes no sense.

- Grip changes:
I like the increased roll resistance, momentum feels more rewarding that before. However, the front/rear balance feels way off compared to beta 11.
-- The front has too much grip, especially longitudinal, but losing it means you are dead (esp. lateral slides, even minute)
-- The rear basically can't powerslide anymore
Quite frankly, the grip in b11 felt overall better and way more balanced. b11 grip with increased roll resistance and a slightly lower grip in general (like 5%) would have been much better, do that and remove a bit of traction from the rear (longitudinal grip) and you are golden I think.

- Steam implementation:
Flawless for me, although some people have been having controller issues due to it. I think for a first one, it's awesome so congratulations.

- Network changes:
-- Server listing change seems like not much but I think it's great for newcommers
-- Steam + new beta = more people online, just had a smooth 12 ppl race now with no issues.

- New Forest track:
Great track, although the jumps when rutted tend to develop a very nasty kick, much faster than other tracks.

- Straight rythm:
It's not for me so I can't comment on that.

So overall, mixed feelings. I think the ability to turn rider F/B lean help OFF should be patched in asap in a beta 12b, it's game breaking for me and for a few other people. It's just an option... put a disclaimer if needed. I also think the tyre changes should be reverted asap or even better, with the comments above.

After the patch with the rider F/B lean help disable option (omg thanks a lot for the responsiveness and listening to us whine), I could play more and focus on other things. So more feedback.

Grip
I think overall the grip is slightly too high both front and rear, both longitudinal and lateral. You can get some massive acceleration and braking power to the ground, as well as some massive lean angle on flat. This seems unrealistic. However, with rider F/B help off, it's a step forward compared to b11 (yes I said it).

-- Front tyre: losing grip laterally is fairly brutal and difficult to bring back. It should be hard, but right now it's omfg hard.
-- Rear tyre: I think it should move more on all surfaces. The softer the surface, the easier it should be to move it sideways with a powerslide but the harder it should be to make it completely step out into a 180 if you are on the gas. In addition, forward traction seems to be still a bit high on all surfaces. The 450 is easier to use than before but still a monster :p

Rider
It's difficult to know what the rider physics improvements are or do, but I did notice that the rider f/b lean help on is nice for newcommers for the air stabilisation aspect of it. Having it off is great and enables more tricky stuff, as it should. Whips and scrubs are nice to do and bring back, and seem to have the right forces applied to it. One thing though - with the high grip, scrubbing is somewhat limited because getting your wheels to slide on the face of a jump is pretty tricky.

One rider movement issue that I noticed has to do with leaning while standing, and I can reproduce it 100%. Small berm, decent speed, standing up, no rider helpers, no rider input, just a bike lean input: the rider will somewhat duck and move his hips towards the inside of the turn and keep his shoulders lined up with the handle bars. It looks wierd and shouldn't be. With no input I'm expecting the hips to stay straight above the seat (especially if the hips are considered center of mass). It doesn't do it when sitting.

Random issues

-- "Camera jumps"
I'll copy paste what I said in the discord the other day:
ok so after too much testing, I am experiencing what appears to be non linearity in camera movements and/or frame skipping. Steam and Standalone, no difference. Tried several tracks, fresh install, changing input controls and helps etc, nothing got rid of it. As my system is clean and fresh and up to date, I don't think it's on my side (or it's something I don't know...). Previous betas were fine. The only difference is the new beta and new GPU drivers (ATI card RX580, currently using the latest released drivers. 19.9.1 I believe?). I will try to find my old previous drivers and try to pinpoint the issue, but it's wierd and uncomfortable

To add to it, I changed drivers to 19.10.1 and it remained the same (or maybe it got slightly better? Not sure, issue is still present though). I can't link the "camera jump" to anything like bottoming out, sitting, whatever.

-- I cannot enable Rumble.
Using a XBox1 controller in Windows 10. No idea why. I couldn't last beta either.

-- Game crashes
When syncing to a game server, doing anything else than waiting crashes my game (I have 3 screens, just clicking on another one crashes MXBikes. 100% reproducible). When not doing anything, it loads 100% of the time.

In Beta12 the possibility to disable the automatic F/B rider lean has been removed.

At this link:
http://www.mx-bikes.com/downloads/mxbikes.exe
it is possible to download a patch ( Beta12b ) that restores the setting to disable the helper.

To install it, simply overwrite the executable in the MX Bikes installation folder.

To disable the automatic F/B rider lean, add the following line
autoriderfblean=0
to the profile.ini file, under the "aids" section.

Awesome.... Still have twitchy, bouncy, unpredictable, moon gravity style physics... After 12 betas, I'm guessing we should not expect it to get any better. Great platform, garbage physics.

i get around just fine.. if your talking about when you land, you need to position your rider correctly before landing.

Moon gravity?
Are you sure you're not referring to Mx Sim?

Definitely don't know what moon gravity is a reference to. My 1:1 tracks ride as they do IRL - including one track I've ridden IRL so know what to expect.

Bouncyness, okay I agree on that, but it's on the changelog for the next update.
But moon gravity? Can't agree on that by any means. MXB feels really lifelike in terms of gravity.
