Title: Dseries Offroad by Devotid
Post by: GDUBMX on February 20, 2015, 07:57:27 PM
Hey guys, I noticed a couple of names over here on the Dseries off road website. I downloaded the demo but couldn't get my damn Xbox controller to accelerate.
I really want a PC equivalent to Baja edge of control. Is this game close to that feel or is it seriously lacking? Cheers guys

its pretty good, but you only get whats in the box(download) which is a handful of tracks and a similar amount of vehicles, as far as i know there is no mods.

It is imho 100% dead, in the way that it hasn't received updates for as long as i can remember. And just for full discloser, as far as i know its not
like piboso's work, as we all know Piboso stuff is 100% custom physics model etc, on the contrary, DSeries is built around a Unity plugin that provides all the vehicle dynamics,
you or I could buy said plugin for a few bucks :)

BUT all that being said, what it is is good in its own way, You will have a lot of fun but if you like variety like I do you may become bored very quickly.

there is nothing like it on PC though imho, and i do get the feeling that im driving one of these beasts when I finally get it working, BUT IF you are expecting a
polished sim, with good graphics and easy controller setups then dont bother, I think you may be upset with this purchase.

I regret buying it, because in the whole time ive had it its not been updated once. I generally dont put stuff down, but in this case i really do feel like its
an abandoned product :( Which is sad as it had a lot of potential.

Oh and i HAVE to mention the awful Unity controller set-up screen which opens before the main exe runs, this is a horrible way to do controls in a vehicle sim, or any
game for that matter. I just fired up DSeries so i could have a more fresh mind about this post, but due to the controller problems and having to restart the FKin game
EVERY time something inevitably went wrong i just gave up lol 3 restarts was enough for me to think....NAH

Wow thank you very much arnzzz, appreciate the in depth review and as a fellow sim lover I'll take your word for it and hope someone creates a Baja/loorrs/Coors offroad pack for beamng. Again thanks mate I appreciate it. :)

Sorry to go OT, but a little self-promotion :)
Terrain and dynamic deformation will be ported to the next build of World Racing Series http://www.worldracingseries.net/, that will also be open to full car modding.

@gdubmx, No problem mate, I feel a bit bad about what I said as the dev obviously put a ton of work into it, but it was my honest opinion :)

Here is a video that EmptyBox did, He does show that the title can be really good fun, WHEN it all works :)

Remember though all my opinions of driving sims (except bike stuff) is done with a wheel, I have no idea how the controller setup is on something like an XBOX controller.

Piboso, If you cannot self promote on your own site, where can you promote lol :)

BTW, Terrain and dynamic deformation coming to WRS, is this a product of the work you have been doing for MXBikes?

@arnzzz I have assetto corsa, is there a corr type mod for that? :) I downloaded some awesome beamng mods today which have offroad vehicles and tracks.

@piboso holy shit! So potentially we could mod wrs into an off road racing sim with 4x4 trucks? Also can you use 3rd person on it? :)

@gdubmx, I dont know if Assetto Corsa has any such mods sorry mate.

Ive heard they may be adding 4x4 support in an imminent dlc pack, so maybe that will pave the way for some cool mods that would fulfil this need of yours :)

If i hear about anything ill let you know.
