I got online to the Paleta server again last night for a while and sorted out my input setup. Filtering down the input settings helped me a lot with just staying up on two wheels longer. Linearity down to %5 and smoothing on. I also was at Practice track a while. I'll post here first next time lol.

Still working on my flight-stick control! lol. You said you hardly use lean. I switched to auto tranny and re-assigned l/r lean to the keyboard and instantly had less crashes.
The rider lean has it's good moments, but if you're just trying to stay upright I would hardly ever use it.

Saw you trying Mace, can't get in there myself right now, when I try I get a crash about 1 min after joining and I joined just after the server was started. Bear in mind mace it's taking way longer than before to get connected.

Lol, bumping is racing. Online name is Dirt, I got back in and had a random game crash, then I got back in again and put in a 7th place lap time on the MX2 stats.

Oh and also if anyone comes on line and gets crashes more than once shortly after joining, tell us in the server chat when you re-connect. We can then restart the server and if you join shortly after the restart the crashes will most probably not occur. But you need to speak up as others can't see anything in the chat that indicates you've had a problem and re-joined.

I can't help but feel like the constant bike upgrades are tearing this community apart. The more frequent the updates roll out the less people play online. I'm slowly losing my drive to check this site, and update appropriate bikes each time I want to play online. Sometimes when I see people join, I will try to get in but the race or qualify would have already started after 15+ mins of research and game modification.
I really feel like the lack of an automatic downloader is killing interest in this game. If there was a small approval process for bikes and tracks to be added to the game at a predetermined time each day then we could have an auto downloader linked to the appropriate server we are trying to join so instead of getting a "missing bike please research and modify" we should get a "missing bikes, would you like to automatically update them?"
This will keep the online community interested and will also avoid 90% of the troubleshooting questions. Consider how many people gave up on this game before they even had a chance to play online because of either lack of technical knowledge or even language barriers.
It seems like something so small, however, it could have a huge impact in the future of this game.
At this point in my rant I realize that I should have put this in the suggestions section, but it's already typed out and I'm a little lazy.
Agreed. After the beta5 I played online often, but soon enough I also stopped trying to keep up with the Joneses. Things will hopefully settle into a single download pack soon.

But that doesn't solve the issue of having to visit forums to update X thing for server Y when in reality you are trying to join server Z :/ Not sure how an automated downloader would work, but if at least we could get a custom message like "Not able to connect, your server pack is not up to date - please download at blabla.com" that would be an improvement.

It probably wouldn't be easy but if it did happen it would pay off for sure. Perhaps if they used an auto updater system similar to X-Plane which would update any missing files on command this could be used to roll out smaller partial updates and have the ability to have an approved by Piboso "3rd part content" folder within the game. Then modders can create and update, send to Piboso for approval, and if approved have it added to the auto updater at a predetermined time of day in hopes of creating as little aggravation as possible for the users. With the Modders and the community having such vast computer knowledge it's easy to forget how difficult it must be for someone without these skills trying to simply race online to experience the game.

Heavily debated in GPB forums. The currently agreed solution is:
- One guy in charge of maintaining a download site (Mega and ftp, but could be other) with all bikes.
- No matter the bike release date, the download site is updated twice a month.
- People that run servers only use what's on the download site.
If bike modders play the game (i.e. they release their bikes only through the download site) and server admins too (i.e. they only run their servers with the current content of the download site), it works OK.
I still think GPB/MXB could be a bit more wordy in telling you which bike is causing a mismatch, e.g. "You have Bike XXX version 2.1, you need bike XXX version 2.2".
P.S.
FTP is kinda nice as it allows you to use sync software (like Syncback, free) to autmatically sync your folder with the ftp "repository".
One advice: for sync purposes, it's waaaay better if each mod bike (and tracks) is provided as a single .pkz file. It makes syncing way easier, faster and less error prone.

The problem with the folder is that it's often hard to figure out which version of the bike you have. With a single .pkz, you look at the file date and that's it.
Anyway, bikes are downloaded as .zip file (which essentially is a .pkz file), so ... At any rate, once you have the .pkz, nothing prevents you from expanding it into the usual folder.

Couldn't agree more wedgewood. Don't get me wrong, I love all the work going on, but I can't be bothered to keep up especially when I only get the odd half hour to play right now. It also doesn't help that the work going on involves more than just one thing. We now have different categories, different tyres, different versions of the same bike, and now there is talk of different rider physics possibly going on servers. This kind of stuff is confusing for me who's not played online in over a week let alone new users.
Seeing as life is so busy, I'm waiting for it to settle down as my guess is soon enough there will be a 'definitive' bike pack, where the old crap is cleaned out and it will be the standard for online play. Here's hoping any way.

Absolutely love the modder's, the mods and the amazing effort and possible contribution to the base game. BRAVO!!
I am just annoyed that when I check the "online" servers and see a rider in 1 of many options of modded or not servers, i have to remind my self which mods to remove from folders and bla bla.. most of the time I just say f'it..
I would rather see, BASIC SERVERS and MOD SERVERS... and that's it.. Not ModA, ModB, ModC

What I'd like to see, and I know it sounds counter intuitive, is less frequent changes. If someone has an idea for something new, trial it, share it with people, get proper feedback and finalise things before they go on servers and we're forced to download a new version of something specific before we can join online. Over the last few weeks there have been many things that have been updated every other day, it's just hard to keep up unless you're online every night :(

i know what you are all talking about.... there is an example what other groups have for other games... if you check e.g. the german website "www.schwarzbierbude.de" ... thats a very big community of assetto corsa !
They have something called the "Autoupdater". There you see every new skin or Mod which you dont have. The Programm "Autoupdater" checks your Data Folder and if you havent the Mod or an older version of a mod, it automaticly updates your folder... So your always up to date for the servers. And if you wanna play e.g. for yourself, you dont have to make the update for your game.
I like this sort of solution very much! But im too bad in programming and stuff.... so idk if its possible to make something for mxb, too...
i normally would post this in the suggestion or wishlist folder, but it fits in this conversation here, so i just thought ill post it here :D
The autoupdate thingy is just like what we have in GPB: the Mega site is manual, but the FTP can be automated (with something like SyncBack, freeware). How it could work for MXB:
- One chap in charge of putting the mods (bike, tracks) on an FTP server, one .pkz file per mod.
- Each player installs SyncBack (free edition, more than enough) and gets a SyncBack script that is pre-configured with all the necessary information (address of ftp site, password etc).
- When you want to sync your local folder to the FTP repository you just run SyncBack (well, the MXB-specific script).
SyncBack can be configured to inform you about any differences between your local repository and the "master" FTP repository and ask for the action (e.g. download the file, or skip it).
For the totally lazy, it can also be configured to take the dicision for you (i.e. just download any file that is different).
Job done.
That sounds like a pretty elegant solution max, as I mentioned in the server requirements thread some kind of version control would be ideal. I'm all for this.
Would be a pretty neat solution - can even give a couple of guys Admin access on the Mega account I suppose so it's not all in the hands of 1 person.
If you want to go with Mega you'd have to use their MegaSync. I've never tried it but I suspect that it needs the login/password of the mage account holder (which would be a bit of a pain as users will only need to sync down, not syn cup, so read only).

Coo, they also have a gui-less command line option (Mega CMD) :)

If I recall correctly, they are not very generous in terms of download capacity. Google Drive is not meant to share large volumes, it's more for personal use.
I'm not even sure I can sync to your drive (but that's true for Mega too, I've just checked MegaSync and it needs the login and password. Mega_cmd seems to be able to sync with a given mega url+key, but it crashes instantly for me).
Overall, the best solution (just my opinion) is an FTP space + SyncBack (or whichever ftp client you like more).
But you need to find somebody giving you the FTP space with decent bandwidth.

If you put a few files & folder on the ftp server and send me the address/login/password (read only), I can bang you a SyncBack profile. People will have to:

If the root of the FTP corresponds to MXB root folder (i.e. it contains folders bikes, tracks etc), the your FTP server wil be able to host bikes, tracks, gear, tyres etc. All at once :)
So... Did something change with the servers?? Last week i was finally able to get online, at least in the OEM servers, but now everything is just back to 'Synching"... As far as i know i have the most recent "all in 1" bike pack... ???

I'm new to this game, but I'm definitely addicted now since I bought it. Some of you may know me from Mx Simulator, but this game is quickly taking over as my favorite motocross game. Hopefully I'll see some of you online soon!

Was trying to join the GTX OEM server which have 7 people in it now. But for some reason I couldn't. No error or anything.. Just kept saying syncing. Now you guys started the quali race :(
Is 7 people the max the server can handle now? Or at least on FTT?

Can't agree more. Just downloaded SM pack: 1 bike = 180-240MB + 105-188MB for the tyres. And that's ZIPPED (.pkz) ... :o
I think that's what it is. My findings..
Took 4 minutes to join the first time. Entered track and cored. There were 7 - 8 people in the server.
Reloaded game, saw there were now only 3 people in the server. Rejoined and it took 2 minutes.
While riding, a bunch of people rejoined. I returned to the pit to load people's bikes and was convinced I'd cored as it took 2 - 3 minutes before my mouse responded. Once it did, the pit suddenly filled with bike models..
Not sure what to make of that but it definitely seems like models and paints are either a problem because of the way we're making them, or a problem with the way mxb handles them.
Wow, I just noticed something *very* weird: I have Avast free as antivirus and it updated 1-2 days ago.
Since I noticed weird things: my plugin was very slow each time I was interacting with it (show/hide widgets, move stuff around, etc), like a 1 sec freeze of everything in MXB (except sound).
I spent 2 hours trying to find a bug in my code, no joy. Then noticed other weird stuff: all Piboso's sims were way slower to load and to go to track.
But if I removed my plugin, they were as fast as they have usually been. So 3 more hours of bug hunting, no joy.
Then I noticed that Visual Studio was slightly slower in compiling my code, something like 10% slower.
So I started thinking Avast was playing games and I switched it off, but no joy. So 2 more hours of bug hunting, still for zero results.
Only after intense headbanging I noticed the problem in my plugin seemed to arise when it writes its status to the .ini file (i.e. startup and any time you change something).
From there I was pretty sure it was Avast's fault, but hey, I switched it off and that didn't make any difference ...
So I tried the silly approach: remove Avast. Problem gone :o >:( :o >:( :o >:(
I don't know if the latest Avast updates screwed anything of if they just rest some options I had previously tuned. At any rate, that's a bug no-no in my book, so Avast gone.

(Avast, Norton etc are memory hogs, shit ton of false positives and false negatives, especially with programs writing in files outside of their own folder). I know it's not fashionable but Windows Defender (yes it's free) and a bit of common sense trumps any 3rd party antivirus those days for home use, in particular the free alternatives.
Strange, I use Avast and MaXhud and don't have any problems.. Maybe there is more to it..?

I had avast for the past 3 or more years, no big issue. Had plenty of others before, no big issue either (until the day I get annoyed by offers to upgrade to pro or similar spam).
Not many false positives, not much resource usage either.
win Defender ? No thx, I'll skip on that one :) It's ok-ish as it's free, but there are others free that do a better job.

Pay attention if there's any Avast update (the program, not the virus db). I didn't have any issue before that (past 3 years or more) ...
For me it was absolutely clear the problem was coming from Avast. After that, it could be limited to my situation (Win7 x64, specific avast settings etc etc).

Hey, Guys I'm fairly new to MX bikes haven't played since beta 4 but I'm trying to meet new people hang out etc. I'm on a fair lot so if anyone ever wants to throw down some laps let me know :P I'm in the discord everyone uses for MX bikes, I'm available Mon-Sun all day and some of the night so not hard to miss me :P
I have my share of experience with MX Sim and hopefully want to eventually join a team that's my goal :)

i want to play online but i have a missing bike, i only have the stock ones as the mods doesnt work, what can it be?
Hope whatever it is gets fixed.. ill be online tomorrow :)
Game crashes on me every time I try to play online with stock models, but works fine in training. Am I missing something here?
update: never mind it works now.

Sucks I had to go do real stuff on the one day I find other people in the server LOL. There was four people online at one point and it didn't crash. It did have a 5-second freeze up but it didn't crash. I tweaked some settings and now I ride better than ever.
