i need help. im currently come back to the game and im really trying to have patience for the learning curve. but my setup is terrible.
can somebody hook me up with one for a starter that 100% fresh to mx bikes.
heres my xbox controller setup:
x=dab(i have auto dab so irrelevant)
back button=reset bike
left stick l/r=bike lean
right stick l/r=rider lean l/r
left stick f/b = rider lean f/b
direct lean is 25%, all smoothing on with defaults.
I try to mimic other games I have played for years so I have less muscle memory issues. I recommend you do the same if you play other mx games. This way I can play multiple in one day and not change much with my finger placement/memory.
(closely set similar to my mx vs atv reflex/alive/encore)
[LT: Rear Brake][RT: Throttle]
[LB: Clutch] [RB: Brake]
(L-Joy:Lean) (R-Joy: Lean L/R & F/B)
*(R-Joy Button: Sit/Stand)
A:dab (but I use auto dab for now)
I use direct lean 100% because this allows the bike to stand back up when I let go of the controllers which is similar to my other mx games and fairly similar to what a bike wants to do in motion (better example is bc resembles other games)
Use smoothing on almost everything :) at very minimum make sure front brake is smooth.
I turn rebound down 2 notches to 6 from 8 on my front and back suspension as this seems to reduce the bounce + immediate crashes when coming up a little short on a jump.
*auto clutch - even when u graduate to manual gearing.
Great setup BadStar. Weird to think I gave up trying to convince people that 100% direct lean was the only way to play way back in beta 1. I also suggested to PiBoSo that MXB comes with DL on 100% when first installed to help newcomers.
Anyway, pretty much the same as mine. I run gears on dpad up down so I can't use rider lean while shifting, but generally I shift before I have to lean I.e in the breaking approach to a corner.
It's interesting to see varied setups and what works for others.. Especially Snappe's (in another post).. I don't know how he keeps the bike upright!
What's really crazy for me is I always carry the fear of the front end washing out from the last BETA
so it takes me so much time to regain the trust and push hard when I enter turns.
Lol fat... man I can't stop thinking about Snappe's setup ever since he posted that.. I was mind blown bc that is so far from what I ever considered for any mx game! More power to him!
I like your idea on shift with dpad.. honestly I love my setup but I have yet to enjoy where I have shifting.. I would prefer to shift up with R-Joy Button and down with L-Joy Button..but mx bikes has Sit/Stand feature that other games (mxvsatv) don't use..and sit/stand is perfect on R-Joy Button. I may experiment with dpad for shifting! I think I may move dab to left joy button also.
No doubt mx bikes is challenging in corners and still is w/b4..no where near as bad obviously. I personally have found "smoothing"(in settings) my throttle /front brake etc and sitting to make turns work out well..but I see vids of some guys pushing the turns much harder and I wonder sometimes if it's me, or my settings that can't do em as fast.. most likely both.
I want to know more about "gain"..I don't touch it bc I don't know what it does.
My setup is PS3 dual shock controller.
RT: rear brake
LB: gear up
triangle: look back
square: tear off
left stick: forward/back lean and steering
Right stick: up=throttle down=front brake left/right=body lean
right stick click in: gear down
direct lean 100%
smoothing at default settings on both brakes
I've been liking this setup as I have the clutch, throttle, and both brakes on axis buttons and I can still gear down while on the front brakes or the throttle without any hassle. I've tried a few different configurations but find this one to work best for me.
