Title: brake settings
Post by: Paradox28 on March 01, 2016, 09:57:23 AM
Seems that 90% of my falls come from the brakes locking up...I've turned on smoothing and even lowered the gain to about 80% for both but sometimes that front brake just grabs!  I run my rear on LT and front on RB..any tips?

I personally swap and have my front on LT so its modulating'ish and rear on rb as its non modulating. In real life I just lock up rear and skid brake, slide more for steering and/emergency braking. The front is for braking gradually, using it similar to a car brake where I apply the wanted pressure etc.
Edit.phones crap

Good thinking gdub.. My rear brake has always been left trigger and front right bumper but might consider changing up..

I'm trying the change...hard to get rid of the muscle memory of using LT to get my nose down over some jumps

Just do what I do, hold both in air hahah

you can leave rear brake on left trig and front brake on right button.. just use 100% smoothing on front brake. I never wash my front

I updated my config file as someone suggested to allow BOTH brakes be on the same button/trigger.. I put them both on the left trigger and man, huge difference!!

Left Trigger = Both Front/Rear Brake
Front Brake = 100% Smoothing
Rear Brake = 30% Smoothing

and now I have much improved braking!

This is a qoute from Mace.. I mentioned both brakes on one trig.

i have it that way, you need to set your rear brake or front brake with the trigger of choice, and then edit C:\Users\Mace\Documents\PiBoSo\MX Bikes\profiles\"Yourprofilenamegoeshere"\controls.txt

and if you assigned the rear brake copy the rear brake axis to the front brake, should look like this(for mine, you need to copy your own controller input, the green part to the red part).

CTRL_REARBRAKE AXIS 4D9BC840-25ED-11E5-8001-444553540000 2 0 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 1 7.900000 9.300000 0 1.000000 0.000000 0.000000
CTRL_BRAKE AXIS 4D9BC840-25ED-11E5-8001-444553540000 2 0 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 1 7.900000 9.300000 0 1.000000 0.000000 0.000000

If you have any questions on how to do this exaclty, just ask!

If this thing becomes very popular (combined brakes on single input) it should probably be integrated in the game via an in-game option do to so.

This is really GREAT! Thanks.
I'd also suggest upping the deadzone of front brakes to help with control on wet terrain. So a mild squeeze only activates the back brakes.

STEP 1: ASSIGN THE REAR BRAKETO THE TRIGGER/BUTTON YOU WISH TO HAVE BOTH BRAKES.

STEP 2: LOCATE "CONTROLS" FILE IN MY DOCUMENTS
EXAMPLE ---->  C:\Users\BadStar\Documents\PiBoSo\MX Bikes\profiles
(MAKE A COPY BEFORE YOU EDIT THE FILE, INCASE YOU MESS IT UP)

STEP 3: COPY ALL THE INFORMATION FROM THE CTRL_REARBRAKE
(not including ctrl_rearbrake)

STEP 4: PASTE this information in place of whatever is in front of CTRL_BRAKE
(http://s610.photobucket.com/user/onlyonejourney/media/BrakeFixExampls_zpsw6u7w0mu.png.html)

RECOMMENDED: 100% SMOOTHING ON FRONT BRAKE AND 30% ON REAR AS A STARTING POINT (adjust to your liking from there)
