Quote from: WestSideWill763 on May 21, 2020, 12:51:50 AMthe layouts nice just all your straightaways suck u cant see the pits u put everywhere cause of it being sand so ide say either smooth things out so its rideable or make it a different texture so we can see each pothole we need to avoid its extremely hard to make it though constant irregular bumps on every straight

I don't know if he updated the track since this comment, but I had no problem seeing the bumps on the straights. They were all different shades from the flat spots and stood out pretty clearly to me.

Also, I highly recommend using Reshade if you have a decent video card.  You can greatly enhance the default, lackluster lighting in MX Bikes by applying a few post processing filters.
General Discussion / Re: MX Bikes beta14d

The online connectivity issues are seriously hurting MXB and need to be top priority:(.  Community members that are proactively attempting to support and grow the game are being impacted the most.  EX: watch the past two YouTube streams on Skooty Puff's channel linked below.  He hosts weekly MXB events, either elimination style or full race (practice, qualify, race) and has been doing so for months now. I've listed the main issues at the bottom of this post which are clearly depicted in the videos.
*Warning - verbal content can get a bit out there but love the guy:).

Drylands Elims b14c (go to 9:00 for start of riding)

Hill Valley b14d (go to 13:00 for start)

  • Connection Lag - Any time someone joins there is a noticeable lag delay felt by host and other players. *Noticeably worse after B14d.
  • Unstable Peer Hosting - Random crashes when host exits track to pits to make changes (session, bike, etc.)
  • Limited # of gates on outdoors - Should be default 40 gates on ALL tracks.  Currently, number of gates is different for each track resulting in much frustration with riders getting booted out of server when others connect.
  • Other riders pop in and out of view based on proximity to you. At minimum utilize ultra low LOD so other riders are always visible.

MX Bikes should be gaining big momentum during this pandemic time period but the aforementioned issues are preventing any chance of this happening IMO.
Amen to that please.
I want to thank everyone for their contributions, you guys rock!  The 2 strokers I ran yesterday were just pure bliss:).

Can't we all just get along and enjoy this track creation for MXB?  Thanks for another fine rendition.

Just awesome, can't explain how much I appreciate the influx of new tracks of late.  Really helps give me and I'm sure other something to really look forward to these days.
After correcting the bike sag (this needs to be addressed in next update), thanks to input by others, and putting in a bunch of laps over this past weekend I'm totally diggin' B14.  Honestly gets better each ride session as I've adjusted to what the physics allow for now.  Overall, the feel is more realistic in a lot of ways.  My only gripe that still occurs once in a while is the sudden front end wash out. Just wish you had time to correct before dumping the bike.  I can save it sometimes with rider lean but does seem random.

BTW - The 250X 2-stroker is a total blast in B14!  By far the most enjoyable stock bike IMO, with it's combo of lighter weight & more power. Strangely, I find it easier to handle in corners because you can take advantage of engine braking (not something you'd do IRL on a 2 stroke). Just have to really control the revs or its larry time:).

Than you, thank you!  The influx of killer tracks lately couldn't come at a better time.  Now all we need is Piboso to release beta 14:).

Well, even though disabling left/right rider lean did seem to help on SX layouts I turned it back on this past weekend.  I just find it does help me on certain corners of MX tracks. EX: long right hand banked turn on Ignite Compound.  I can pull the rider lean stick back and left with a hand full of throttle in 4th gear almost the entire turn, which helps maintain better overall speed.  Also think it helps in tight corner ruts as well if you lean forward but instead of weighting the outside peg you lean into the corner a bit.  Of course, could just be me thinking it helps because I'm so used to riding that way:).

Can't wait for the B14 release to see how the physics tuning notes change things, hopefully in a good way.

Nice, I need to hit the recommended SX tracks again, newer replicas kick my arse, LOL.

I'd also throw in Forest, always go back to that one when making setup tweaks.  IMO - Club & Forest are two of the best fictional, stock tracks found in any MX game. To this day I can load up either, run dozens of laps and have a great time trying to beat my best ghost lap.  Historically, stockers are below average or worse --> MX Sim.

Gave this a try last night and found I was a lot more stable overall:).  The number of spastic, twitch reactions from trying to over ride like a moron were greatly reduced. In general I felt that I had much smoother more control of the bike, especially coming out of corners.  Thanks!

Thanks for the info folks, I'm sold:).  I've probably been over using the rider lean to my detriment, most notably on SX tracks where it's critical to hit the 1st jump in most sections as straight and stable as possible. Instead, like an incessant habit, I tend to reach for the bike lean in desperation while trying to correct entry/launch.  The results are never good but my son finds them to be quite comical, LOL.

Since you're one of the best MXB riders I've seen I have to ask, what's the deal with the Rider L/R Lean being mapped to number pad 4 & 6 keys in your YouTube video? Do you have these mapped to specific buttons on your controller, perhaps Xbox Elite??  Just wondering if maybe digital input helps in some way with the 80% min/max smoothing setting (38 sec of video) to get quicker response or something.

Off Topic / Re: MX Simulator

The MXS loyalists believe that since the bike is more difficult to control that automatically translates into being more realistic.  However, it's actually more of an artificially inflated skill level over authenticity.  There is a single element that I believe MXB does far better than MXS, which is conveying a realistic sense of speed and acceleration when played in first person view.  IMO, this is the closest simulated feeling of the real deal.  It just adds so much to corner anticipation/braking and you can "feel" when you start to override. That being said, both games have their weak points but MXB is constantly being developed by Piboso while MXS has reached EOL.  If the devs can fix the low speed stability, crazy side swapping and reduce the projectile seat bounces, MXB will just continue to get better.
