Setups / Re: brake settings

I updated my config file as someone suggested to allow BOTH brakes be on the same button/trigger.. I put them both on the left trigger and man, huge difference!!

Left Trigger = Both Front/Rear Brake
Front Brake = 100% Smoothing
Rear Brake = 30% Smoothing

and now I have much improved braking!

This is a qoute from Mace.. I mentioned both brakes on one trig.

i have it that way, you need to set your rear brake or front brake with the trigger of choice, and then edit C:\Users\Mace\Documents\PiBoSo\MX Bikes\profiles\"Yourprofilenamegoeshere"\controls.txt

and if you assigned the rear brake copy the rear brake axis to the front brake, should look like this(for mine, you need to copy your own controller input, the green part to the red part).

CTRL_REARBRAKE AXIS 4D9BC840-25ED-11E5-8001-444553540000 2 0 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 1 7.900000 9.300000 0 1.000000 0.000000 0.000000
CTRL_BRAKE AXIS 4D9BC840-25ED-11E5-8001-444553540000 2 0 0.000000 0.000000 0.000000 1 7.900000 9.300000 0 1.000000 0.000000 0.000000

If you have any questions on how to do this exaclty, just ask!

This is really GREAT! Thanks.
I'd also suggest upping the deadzone of front brakes to help with control on wet terrain. So a mild squeeze only activates the back brakes.

Gdub's vid inspired me lol..  You can throw some pretty good whips after a bit of practice  8)

That's amazing. So far I've only mastered the falling-on-my-face move.  :P

Media / In 60 fps! Some quick test footage.
October 30, 2014, 01:09:15 AM
I wanted to test out youtube's new 60 fps feature and MX Bikes seemed like the perfect game for it.

http://youtu.be/y-_26pZjqwc

*not sure the embed will show up in 60fps, Only HD 720 and 1080 in Google Chrome displays 60 fps.
*Embed code doesn't display properly. It errors out on 720 and 1080.

I did an entire modern redo now that I feel more confident with the templates. I plan to redo the vintage one soon.

*edit. Vintage version finished and uploaded.

Can you provide a concrete example on how you'd use this ?

MaX.

Anytime I switch to 3rd person (in lieu of the helmet issue I mentioned). Caps Lock feels more like the configuration screen so it wouldn't be ideal if you merely wanted to disable the things you had chosen to be on the screen quickly. I was just curious if it would be possible to push Scroll Lock (as an example) and it toggles off and on the widgets you had configured via Caps Lock.

Or sometimes I want to know where I am on the track as far as the finish line but I don't want all that info on the screen the whole time because I enjoy the full immersion of an empty hud. So, I could tap Scroll Lock to get a quick peek at the track map.

And also if I wanted to take a quick screenshot. Instead of needing to go in and toggle each element off I could hit one key that hides my plugin layout.

I guess I'm the only person who would like that feature, idk. If possible I would definitely love if there was a way for the helmet to not show up in 3rd person (not sure if that info gets passed to the plugin).

I'm aware of Capslock. I mean to toggle the entire plugin off and on once you have the things you want. I have only a few things but I'd still like to toggle them off or on quickly while in the game. (for when you want to go back to full immersion with no HUD)

Paints / Re: Speed Racer and the MX-5

It's mostly coloring, not a lot of decals. I put texture on the seat and added some dust to the bike and the rider. I also enhanced some shading on the gloves and arms.

I really like having some info on the screen but is there a way to toggle the entire plugin off and on?
And is there any possibility of being able to not have the helmet show up in 3rd person?
Thanks for this great little tool btw.

Paints / Speed Racer MX (2 Versions: Vintage & Modern)
October 07, 2014, 11:09:53 PM

I scrapped my original and went back to the drawing board. I gave it all a more modern MX styling.
zip file has bike, rider, boots, gloves, & helmet in the proper folder structure so you can dump it in your directory and merge.

Suggestions and wishlist / Re: First Person view
October 07, 2014, 03:05:31 AM
If you wanted to see the gear as a notification on screen when in first person you can use this plugin: http://simraces.com/MXB/PluginDepot
I tried it out for a bit. I REALLY like the helmet visible on the screen. The only problem though is that it stays up even in 3rd person view.

I agree though that it would be nice if the camera was adjusted some so we don't clip through the rider's arms and we could see a bit more of the bike in the FOV. I feel like the camera should be at default where it is when you lean the rider back.

General Discussion / Re: YOUR SETUP

Total noob question.. but what does sit / sit direct actually do? I don't really seem to notice a difference.  I'm loving the game but right now I mostly just excel at falling over.  :P

Thanks for posting your configs, it's helping me set up my controller.
