Have you tried changing everything to the lowest quality / resolution? Should at least load the new settings much quicker allowing you to set up your controller.. Then you can try and set your graphics back up..

I just tried that and it crashes. it seems as if changing any type of setting then pressing done crashes the game no matter what setting it is

 so if I change anything in the settings and then press done it just makes the screen go black and then the thing that says keep resolution is up for a half a second then it goes back to black. but if i dont change settings at all and dont use a controller the game runs fine but its impossible to play with a keyboard. idk what to do.
