Could have probably used a air cooler and saved a little money but water looks so much better.
Except you don't look that often inside your PC, especially when playing :)

+1 for air cooling: cheaper, almost same performances (unless you overclock heavily) and much quieter.
Not to mention that if in 3yrs from now an air cooler breaks down it's no big deal, while if a water cooler leaks ...

MaX.

Meh, my Noctua D-14 is way louder than the X61 at the same load levels and keeps it quieter.  I think the warranty on it is 7 years or something so I will have a new/updated computer by then.

I can see right in the side of the window while I am sitting at my desk!  It is important that it looks good inside to me!

Update: Added Pics.
Intel i5 4690k devils canyon.
MSI geforce gtx 770 4gb.
Asrock z97 extreme 4.
Corsair vengeance lp 8gb(2x4gb)
Corsair CX 750 PSU.
Samsung DVD rewriter.
Zalman z11 case.
Coolermaster hyper evo 212
Note: i might eventually get a modular PSU as opposed to a non-modular. I used less that half of all the cables which makes it a it of a pain for cable management. all in all tho im happy with my virgin build. :)

Modular or semi modular is the only way to go, looks good though.  That is a beast of a graphics card, I have a EVGA 770SC 4gb in my home computer and it is awesome.

The workstation parts are more expensive and perform roughly the same.  Could have probably used a air cooler and saved a little money but water looks so much better.  Now I want a H440 and a custom loop for my home build.  That one is more wild than this one with a 4930k and 32gb of ram.

Yep, used it at work all day today.  Still getting all my software setup as I need it but so far it is a much needed improvement over my old HP.

Not sure why that one picture is bigger than the other.  Oh well.

I am starting a new build for my computer at work that is similar to yours.

Asus Sabertooth z97 Mark II
I7-4790k (only a few $$$ more than the 4770k I was planning why not)
16GB Gskill Ares 1600
EVGA GTX 760 SC 2gb
NZXT H440 Case (Super stoked on this case, I think I may be in love)
NZXT Krakken X61 (excited to try this out)
Corsair CX500M
Samsung EVO 250gb SSD (will be the only drive since all our files are on the server)

Yea the tents I made for the RF Nationals.  I have some tough blocks you can use if you want, I have multiple norms for them so they can look a bit more random.

Of course you can add what ever you want providing your motherboard suits it, which in the ssd case it will. And unlocked CPU's have a k at the end of the model number. You have chosen the 4570 (same as me) which will actually boost to 3.6ghz if it feels it needs to. The 4670k can be unlocked manually to achieve faster speeds. (Lower the life if cpu/increased heat etc) I've purposely decided to opt for the 4570 as at stock speed they are virtually the same cpu. Plus I left it so I can get a higher speed cpu later on by buying a motherboard that permits it. Your machine will run super sweet mate, the card you've chosen is a bomb and the cpu will work well with it. Although moto I've researched the gtx 760/770 range and the MSI twin frozr offers the best cooling. Its the one I've chosen also.

1150 Socket has fast cpus so buy once cry once if you are buying a 1150 board.  Personally I would go with a Asus board but there are tons to choose from, if I was building a system today I would do a bitfenix prodigy case, asus Maximus Gene, 4770k, gtx760, samsung evo 250gb ssd, wd blue 2tb storage drive, corsair ax760 psu, and drop in some gskills 16gb 1866 ram in to finish it off.

The 4570 stock clocks are 3.2 boosting to 3.6 the 4670k is 3.4 boosting to 3.8.  So for $30 you get .2ghz stock clock bump but lets say you did a very mild 10% OC you are at 4.2ghz or 16% faster than the 4570.  I say it is for sure worth it, even with the protection plan for $50 to get .8ghz that is cheap (you would probably need to upgrade the cpu heatsink but there are some decent options for less than $50).  The great thing is you can choose to take the .2ghz and leave it like that forever or decide at any time you wish you had a little extra power...Rather than speding on a faster cpu to go in the same socket you can simply OC it a bit and get that warm fuzzy feeling of a new system again (for at least a week haha).

Just my recommendation, there is nothing wrong with the locked processor this is just what I would do.

All read and write operations are faster.  Fast traditional hard drives read at 120-150mb/s and a Samsung Pro reads at 540mb/s.  Its not just boot time, its every time you load a file...ever.  Its like crack and I am addicted.

Also, if you are building your own system I would recommend going with a unlocked processor.  Later down the road you may decide that you want to overclock and if you don't have a unlocked processor you wont be able to.  I overclocked my 4930k from 3.9ghz to 4.5ghz and it is great.  I got an extra 15% of processing power for $25 (to buy the intel protection plan so they will replace my processor if I cook it).  For $30 more you can get a 4670k rather than the 4570, other than that I think the build is looking good.

I recommend a samsung 250gb evo, they run about $125.  I have a samsung pro 256gb in mine, windows boots in about 10 seconds and everything is so snappy.  Be careful though, you will never want to use a computer without a SSD every again (like my work computer).

Like I said, virtually all the plugs and sockets can only be put together in the right spot.  The only real exception I can think of at the moment is the power switch, reset switch, leds, and all that stuff.  The manual is helpful but typically everything is written on the board (super small hard as hell to read with limited light in the case) so you could go that route if you so choose.

You will be stoked when you get it up and running, trust me.  I really want to build a new computer for work, just have to convince my Dad (also my boss) that it will make us more money haha.

Build it yourself because you save money or spend the same amount of money and get a better computer.  As far as everything coming separate, I ordered 90% of my build on Amazon and it all showed up within a day or two of each other.  Watch that video I posted, it shows the whole process so you can see really how easy it is.  You will need to look in the manual a few times to see what slot the graphics card goes in and where all the plugs go to the motherboard but other than that it could not be any easier.  90% of the plugs only go to their specific socket so its impossible to screw it up, the other 10% are for like headphone jacks and stuff that you cant screw up if you tried.  If you  forget to plug something in, depending on what it is, either nothing will happen or it will try to start and realize that stuff is unplugged and tell you about it.

Plus, it is fun and becomes a hobby in itself.

The downside is that you dont have 1 person/company to yell at if something goes out.  You will have to track down the problem yourself (quite easy) and deal with the company who made the component directly.  Other than that there is no reason not to do it.  Hell if you lived by me I would put it together for you for free since I like doing it.

If you have a microcenter near you that is the best place to buy motherboard/CPU combos (cheapest).  Their other stuff is a little higher priced (to get back the money they saved you on the MB/CPU) but I think they offer reasonable assembly fees.

If that isn't an option, take a look at a couple videos about building a computer.  Its really easy, the hardest part is picking the components.  If you can put together legos, you can build a computer its like legos with wires.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPIXAtNGGCw

You can skip part 1 because we can give you advise on a good build in your price range but it may be good to understand each component and be able to at least compare stuff that we recommend.

IDK I would probably try to do a 4770k build if I was in your position, last I priced one out it was $1500 but there are definitely some areas I went more expensive then you have to.  Combine that with a GTX 760 or the 8xx series when they hit and you will be golden for all the newest games and be future proof for quite a while.

General Discussion / Re: Release date?

The problem with updating the physics down the line is that it can render a lot of the older tracks useless.  I am sure Piboso wants to get it at least very close from the start, I agree with that method.  Small tweaks here or there to help stability are fine but if it rides really different it may hurt the sim IMO.

Yer if you creating you own versions of the 2011 tracks, why does that have anything to do with jlv?

Because I'm basically replicating his layout.

But the layout has the strange scaling already.  I am not talking about jump heights, I am talking about lane widths and overall track scaling.

You can probably find the official track maps from Dirt Werkz.  JLVs tracks are scaled kinda funny to ride correctly in MXS IMO.

Wow, didn't realize it was a stolen heightmap.  You should delete it or ask for permission to use it.  Do no release it without permission.
