General Discussion / Re: track editor
March 21, 2016, 03:29:37 PM

There are no plans to make a terrain sculpting editor, because there already are so many on the market.
There ARE plans to turn TerrainEd into a proper editor to interactively edit the texture layers and place the objects.

Checkpoints are all good for hotlapping, but they do cause an issue when racing: if you miss one, your lap will not be counted.

On GPB forum we have proposed to disregard checkpoints during races, but I don't know if this is included in GPB b8 and MXB b4.

During a race a missed checkpoint should add a time penalty ( set by the track maker ) to the overall race time, but the lap should still be counted.

It's the track creator responsibility to add checkpoints along the tracks to avoid intentional and unintentional cutting.

Bug Reports / Re: Rim stiffness

It would seem to me the game isn't simulating a rim, just a large rubber tire.  On hard landings you can watch the tire compress much further than the rim/tire should allow.  Is this a slow ground collision detection, or is the rim missing?

Anywho, the result is the crazy bounces we see when not landing jumps perfectly, either coming up short or going long.

The rim stiffness is simulated.
However, maybe something is wrong with it.
Thank you for the report.

Documentation / Re: core.ini

It is possible to grab an offscreen screenshot pressing the F10 key.
To change the resolution and multisample setting:

[hrs]
width=3840
height=2160
multisample=4

The image is saved as TGA into "hrsshots" directory. The user interface is not rendered.

Framerate is capped at 200.
To change the maximum frames per second:

[framerate]
cap = 200

Any value over 1000 or under 10 disables the cap.

Please note that the minimum frame length in milliseconds is rounded to the previous integer.
This means:
120 -> 8.333 ms -> 8 ms -> 125 fps
85 ->  11.765 ms -> 11 ms -> ~91 fps

format = JPEG

If you have a multi-monitor setup and want to output to a monitor that is not the primary one, add the following lines to core.ini:

[display]
monitor=2

To increase compatibility with Windows, all data is saved under "My Documents"\PiBoSo\MX Bikes\
If you prefer to have everything saved in installation folder, edit core.ini file ( located where MXB is installed ) and set compatibility to 0:

[windows]
compatibility=0

biggest problem I seem to be having is that when in the air the rear end doesn't seem to wanna come back in line no matter what I try to do.  Any suggestions?  My stab is at 40 but tried at 35 with the same result

Beta4 has been tuned for 100% stability, so it should be better with higher values.
