Announcing a Fun Race at Budds Creek (Maryland) on the Classic 1996 CR125 (created by rc4187)

Budds Creek is part of a multi-functional motorsports facility that features a world-class motocross track, a 3/8th mile clay oval, and drag strip all on the same property. It sits just one hour from Capital Hill in Washington, D.C. Budds Creek enters its 26th year in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship and boasts a unique mix of sand and clay, multiple elevation changes, several off-camber corners, and a wide array challenging obstacles in a truly dynamic layout. The 2007 Motocross of Nations cemented Budds Creeks status as one of the worlds premier motocross tracks. It was the second U.S. facility to host the biggest professional motocross race on the planet.

Event Details


To participate you will require this bike https://mega.nz/#!YlAyharZ!M20kdfMuPpSlFT2Q7YH95YE2v-booeELR9rk_GSJqwI  the track is already included with the game.

2 servers will be used, 1 server will be running practice for all and when the event starts, a separate server will be used to hold the races. Those taking part will be called to join the race server and when finished will need to return to the practice server to await their next race call. The heat races will be short to keep waiting times down with the main being slightly longer.

The heats will be setup to run in different formats depending on the number of participants but should also allow for lag free racing that can be replayed to a decent standard. Heat and final races will currently contain a maximum of 8 riders, maybe lower depending on turnout. A single race might be held if numbers are too low to run heats. For initial heat selection names will be drawn at random.

Collisions will be on and deformation off.

Races / Week Day Tournament

I'm thinking of organising races on a weekday evening. Starting at about 8-9 pm GMT and ideally running heats to work within the current MXB multiplayer limits. Not sure if enough are still playing now since the B5 release for it to work, so i'm wondering if enough riders are interested?

Races / MXbikes Server - Rider Requirements

Some online servers will be running custom tracks and bikes and anyone wishing to join these servers will need to download the necessary mods. This post will hopefully simplify what's needed for newcomers.

TRACKS

To see what tracks are being used online look at the online server list http://stats.mx-bikes.com/servers.php . Then download any custom track you want to ride from the https://mxb-mods.com/category/uploads/tracks tracks section.

BIKES

Some servers run custom bikes and you will need the same bikes loaded into your "bikes" folder to join. You will get a "Missing Bikes" error if you join a server running custom bikes that you do not have loaded.
If a server is running an updated version of a bike you have loaded, you will get a "Bike Mismatch" error.
For servers running mod bikes download these bikes to join -

Additional FYI - Make sure all your original MXB files are intact ie bikes.pkz. Other recent mods have replaced this file and if it's missing you will get a missing bike error with MOD and on stock servers. Easy fix is to re-install over the top.

Compressed file format is 7z, you can download software like "7Zip" http://www.7-zip.org/download.html to extract the files. This format is used as the file is size is smaller than with zip.

Bug Reports / Start DQ Before Going to Gate

Seen many times now with at least 3 different people getting DQ'd before even going to the gate, myself now included? It seems to happen when the game changes to the race session.
Is there some kind of rule that can be broken in the prior session that could explain this perhaps?

Noticed a weird reset position where the start funnel ends, gets you the lead but also a cut penalty as it puts you back in the pits.

So with organised races in mind we need to do some testing to find out what works and what doesn't.

Need to now stuff like -

Hoe many riders can race without issues, cores lag etc.
Do we use collisions
Do we use terrain deformation (and if so at what level, it's adjustable now  :D )
Can we do gate picks after qualy and how does it work (fastest should get 1st pick)
If there's enough entries do we run heats and LCQs etc (would be great!)

And other stuff we can think of to be added.

For instance, once the other night we ran a 13-14 player race and it did not go well at first. Shortly after starting everyone disappeared then re-appeared 5-10 seconds later, might just have been me but we need to find out if this affects others and if a lower number of players might help.

Hopefully some of you will be willing to help answer the above (with online testing) and help decide where we take this.  ;D

As we can run with no collisions, could we be given the option to turn off the reset delay when other riders are coming? Seems a bit superfluous to have it without collisions. Maybe just when collisions are off there's no delay would suffice.

Not sure if anyone would want this to stay on regardless...... ? Most seem to find it frustrating when you get stuck for so long but I don't think with collisions on anyone could say it's a bad idea, but without, maybe.  :)

Roughly yes, I had the bars, rear-sets, seat, throttle and cables already. The biggest cost was the board at £25 then lots of other little bits, like bearings, grips, levers, risers, metal and springs (mostly from ebay).

I ask this of anyone who knows anything about these types of things, I know very little.

If I was using Photoshop to create 2D images for printing could anyone see Blender being a better option to create more 3D looking 2D images? I know Blender is used by some on here to create models but could these models be used to create a realistic scene with realistic light effects to be used just for 2D prints?

Last night we had a few on track and for no apparent reason someone got "ejected" from the server. The ejected player was then told he was banned from the server when trying to rejoin. Any idea why this happened and how it can be stopped? Ping limit was 1000 and I don't think he exceeded this but can't be sure, and if he did get booted for high ping is the ban automatic?
Any other default reason for auto eject and ban?

Is it possible now, and if not can it be changed so it is possible to alter the race start delay which is currently 2 mins? Had a good look at the dedi.ini but can't see anything to change this. 30 seconds or less would be good, 1 min tops.
