Well, I don't think we can actually change how the legs will move ingame, it'd be sick if we can let the legs have some sort of run animation though.
We can't change the rider model, so no monkey in mx-bikes.

Aww poop. Can we change the skin of the rider model??? And yeah a leg running animation of some kind would be really cool
We can't change the rider model since this game has animation, it would be very hard/imposible to get a good working rider model made by the community. Yes we can skin the rider model.

Off Topic / Modeling/Skinning/Gaming help
May 13, 2014, 06:18:16 PM
I thought this would be an usefull topic since I'm sure a lot of people in the community are modeling/skinning/gaming.

In this topic you can ask any quetions related to making models, skins and games. I'll start it off.
So some of you might know I've been working in Unity sometime already, and I have some small problems with it. I guess this problem is quite easy, but still anoying. It has nothing to do with coding as far as I know, since I didn't add a single code, it's all just planes with a diffuse and normal map applied on them.

The outside planes have weird little stripes all over them (horizontal). The ones I used for the middle and the corners haven't gotten those stripes, and the problem accures if I put the diffuse map on the material I'm using. I've tried changing some settings in the render and quality settings in Unity, but I don't want to mess around with it too much because I'm scared to f*ck things up. I've also resaved and remade the defuse a couple of times, but I can't seem to fix the problem.

Got it. I accidently set the tiling to 21 instead of 1 after I tested it on 2 on the x-axis.

I just hope we don't get something like reflex, that does absolutely nothing and is munted haha
I actually love reflex's terrain deformation. Have you ever ridden one of the outdoor sand tracks, these were one of the best tracks I've ever ridden in a game, I loved all the ruts and bumps which deformed.

Piboso do you have any idea how deformation will work? Will it work with a softmap like reflex or with 2 heightmaps, a flat one, and a rutted/bumpy one (so when you ride over it, the first heightmap will deform to the 2nd).

Does it matter. It's on same forum
It actually does, since people that aren't registered/haven't posted a single post on the forums yet aren't able to see that part of the forums.

Geo, I don't think you're suposed to post that picture on here. It's suposed to stay inside the development part of the forum.

I just want a game that is realistic and true to motocross ..I dont want a game that's hard just for the sake of being hard because its a sim .. Its not hard to just ride around on a dirt bike  ...3 year olds can do it ...being fast is where the difficult factor comes in...
I agree with this a 100%. I still want more a mxsim type of game than a mva type though, but I'm sure that's going to happen.

From testing the example track in mxs you can see that everything will need to be scaled down a little for mxb. At least that's my theory. So if it works in mxs nicely just scale it down some.
That's true, but we don't know how the suspension works, and what the physics can handle or ride the best on. Maybe we need a whole different kind of sx jumps than the ones that I used.

Any track updates guys? With the development updates crawling (I understand piboso and snappe are busy) its nice to see the track updates.
if I don't like the game or if my track doesn't play out as planned I did everything for nothing.

Not really. Somewhere toward end of my object video you can see how easy it can be to scale it right. Think around 1:15 mark (last 15 or 20 min of it I think).

EDIT: Its starts at the 1:08 mark
I know buddy, I figured out a lot myself. It's just the heightmap scaling, maybe we have to make weird jumps shapes or different spacing between jumps etc.

I've stopped for a moment. I want the release before I will improve my track, if I don't like the game or if my track doesn't play out as planned I did everything for nothing. I also have exams in a bit and I need to finish a 3d model project for a friend of mine.

Problem is, developing an MX sim is the final challenge of any sim programmer.
A car simulator, in comparison, is a pathetic toy for noobs.

I thought cars sims were the hardest because of all the parts you can have. What if you included damaging models? I could see how MX sims are difficult though.
A car is way easier to make stabel that a 2 wheeler, and especially a 2 wheeler in the sand. Once I've time to learn some programming again I'll probably start with a car game too, just to get the hang of the physics etc.

I feel like you're saying this to me, and if it is, you understand me wrong.
I still can't wait for this game and I'll definitly play it as much as posible. I know making a game costs a HELL lot of time, I've experienced it. I just got a little upset because of the release dates, it kinda felt like a joke yesterday. Every time we're close to the date it changes again, I understand why but this got me a little upset.
No need to hate on me, I agree with your post.

I am saying it to you yes, but others as well. I'm not hating on you, rather trying to help you see the behavior you were portraying. It was a little bratty. I know you're disappointed, just try to think before you type sometimes you know? Not much good comes out of making comments that are emotionally charged. You seem like a cool guy other then that. A little patience and a little respect go a long way.
I'm sorry for that Cdub. I understand why you posted that. I guess I got a little angry and I shouldn't have been at all since I know how hard it is to script (I've gotten stuck with a simple '{' in one of my scripts for over 2 months). I also know how PiBoSo and Snappe are feeling, since I've wanting to release models and tracks for many games now, but I always see something I want to update before I actually finish it, and then people are begging me the whole time to release it.
Once again, I'm sorry for my attitude yesterday.

yeah I dont think anyone stated it was delayed officially just that announcing a date was a mistake, piboso said the 5th wasn't a real date a long time ago, just a lot of jumping to conclusions  :(
Sorry for my bad English, I thought delayed didn't mean released.
Anyway, then I'd like to know what still needs work before an actual alpha release.
