Track Editing / Re: East Side Mx Park Beta
November 22, 2014, 04:28:00 AM
Hey Vortex_Damien

I tried the track and i enjoyed it :)

I think its a good size, and i like the larger jumps compared to the stock practice track, and its easier to get around than stock maryland, so for a work in
progress track i think its really good :)

Thanks for making tracks btw, they are sorely needed :)

General Discussion / Help setting reset position.
November 19, 2014, 04:30:38 AM
I have already posted in the suggestions/features forum for this feature, but I thought I would post here in the hope that someone may know a way to "hack" this
functionality into the game now :)

I have just recently started playing MX vs ATV Reflex, just after MXBikes got me into MX games/sims in general :), and a feature they have which has been a HUGE help in allowing
me to practice manoeuvres and tricks is the ability to place a marker down anywhere on track so that when you press reset you are put back to that exact spot.

With MXBikes being infinitely for difficult(in the best possible way), and a huge part of being able to control these bikes is mastering body weight transfer (I use direct lean), I think
being able to reset at one position, just near a good jump, would be immensely valuable to increase rider skill level in the fastest possible way.

In the time (~2.30) it takes to do a lap of the practice track, in which there are maybe 4 or 5 suitable jumps, I could probably have practised 20-30 jumps with such a feature :)

I know its not realistic, but I think it would really help get a feel for the in air physics which is pretty hard and time consuming to do at this point in time :(

TLDR, could we have MX vs ATV reflex style reset markers pleeeeeease :)

Media / Re: Videos
November 18, 2014, 09:10:46 PM
Its something that i do see sometimes but its not something thats easily controllable AT ALL.

I dont ride in real life but ive watched real riding and from what ive seen its not as hard as in MXBIKES to do this.

I cannot do it in a controlled manner at all :(  id love to though.

Off Topic / Re: BMX The Game Sneak Peek Pre-ALPHA
November 17, 2014, 06:54:16 PM
I noticed this game somehow the other day, not sure where, but it looks promising.

There is another BMX game in development called Bike Park I think, but the physics in bike park seem so canned, allowing impossible stuff to be pulled off, and that just doesn't appeal to me.

Whereas BMX the game, seems pretty good, and the guys making it seem pretty professional too.

I might just but it, I think you can pick it up for about $25 :)

BTW @gdubmx you seem pretty good in that video to be honest :)

Paints / RedBull Paint (Bike and Rider).
November 17, 2014, 04:35:42 AM
Hey guys

This is my first ever attempt at doing a skin in any sim and its been fun. Im pretty happy with what ive got, its not finished yet but
i think its good enough to be used :)

Disclaimer, I dont follow any MX, so have no idea about the real world bikes and what they look like.

This paint job I have done is from a picture on google, some of the sponsors were unreadable, and I could only see one side of the
bike :)

The rider skin is completey made up, No source material for that one, its all from my head, then slapped a couple of logos on it.

Anyway, feedback welcome....

Thanks Piboso, MXBikes is AMAZING.

Ok so Piboso ive been messing around with the replay buffer size and matter what i put the buffer is always about a 1:30s. here is my ini file settings, are they incorrect?

[HACKS]
ColorMipMaps = 0
NoPBuffer = 0
NoRenderToTexture = 0
NoPBO = 1
NoFBO = 0
NoHDR = 1
replay  = 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000
[windows]
compatibility=1

see my post above.

I think you are making these changes in the core.ini file when they should be in mxbikes.ini.

Ok so after messing around with my INI file i still cannot figure out how to extend the replay time, here are the contents of my INi
[core]
replay = 200000000000
[HACKS]
ColorMipMaps = 0
NoPBuffer = 0
NoRenderToTexture = 0
NoPBO = 1
NoFBO = 0
NoHDR = 1
[windows]
compatibility=1

please would Snappe or Piboso explain what im doing wrong? ive followed Tony's advice and still not managed to get an extended time. Cheers guys.

You are making the changes in the wrong ini file i think.

There are two INI files in the install folder... mxbikes.ini and core.ini.

The changes must be in the mxbikes.ini.

This is my mxbikes.ini and its got a 200mb replay value :)

[core]
replay=200000000

[GFX_DEFAULT]
x=800
y=600
bpp=32
fullscreen=1
refresh=0

[SOUND]
driver=0                                                    ; 0 = default
max_sounds=32
efx=1

[master]
server=master.mx-bikes.com:10400

hope that helps :)

One thing with the hills. If you're having trouble that is. If you fall on the hill on maryland. Try going into second and leaning forward. One of the reasons it's so hard is because your front tire is barely coming off the ground which results in you not really being able to turn.

Ill try that thanks :)

Suggestions and wishlist / Re: Mx bikes on steam
November 12, 2014, 02:28:28 PM
These forums would turn into a cess pit and the amount of hate for small things would go through the roof.

With a small amount of hardcore players that are here, its all people who have gone out of there way to find such a game. You bring the general population of
steam on here and it gets nasty pretty damn fast.

Piboso would make a ton of money, as i think this would sell like hot cakes, but i also feel while the sim is still pretty difficult to use to do the things people expect to do, then its just setting itself up for to much hate by being on steam.

Assetto Corsa, the driving sim is on Steam, and on most days people are in the discussion boards hating on the sim because they say its to difficult with a controller or keyboard. They expect it to be like forza.

Steam kiddies will expect this to play like MX vx ATV, but it doesnt and they will cry :)

Imagine what they would say about this, with its super high learning curve lol

full disclosure: I love Steam, and i to would like this on steam, if only for the updating process :)  but i dont think its ready for that crowd yet. one day maybe :)

Suggestions and wishlist / Markers - reset markers
November 12, 2014, 05:09:23 AM
I have been putting many hours into MX-Bikes trying to pull off proper scrubs and the majority of my time is spent either falling off or riding around irrelevant parts of the track to find a suitable jump. This is made so much harder by the difficulty in turning at low speeds.

Could we have reset markers so that we could pick a point and return to that point whenever we want?

MX vs ATV reflex does this and it is super helpful when learning tricks :)

Thank you

You are not alone. Once you've got some speed up its pretty controllable, well at least until you hit a jump at a slight angle, because when the back comes out, good luck getting it back lol.

But at low speeds like when just setting off, the bike has zero stability. (im running about 15% Dead zone, with direct lean on)

Try to get going on some of the uphill sections on Maryland after falling off lol, its bloody hard, and very frustrating!!! there is zero control at low speeds in this sim.

The thought of Piboso introducing ground deformation one day scares me with the way the sim drives at this point in time. I just cannot see that working, as anytime you come of you need flat ground to get going again.

I know its a beta, but I think these are major things that need to be fixed and/or addressed by Piboso. But im new here and i get the general feeling that people here just tend to say...

"Thats the way Piboso made it, That's the way it should stay".

I get that he's one guy and he is doing amazing things, but not facing the facts is not going to make this the best MX sim out there.

Its not perfect, some big changes needed.

Suggestions and wishlist / Re: More realistic rider lean
November 11, 2014, 11:55:54 PM
I have some issues trying to get past any sections like this when riding. Like you say I just get bucked off :)

The kind of slide your on about isn't possible with the way the physics have been implemented at this stage.IMHO.

I have put many hours into trying just such a slide, and I haven't managed one yet that feels remotely realistic. The back wheel just wants to follow the front, it's very road like if that makes sense.

I don't envy piboso one little bit, because I can only imagine how difficult it is to implement such a highly balanced model so that manoeuvres like that can end up feeling natural. At this stage it's too rigid I think.

It's not there just yet. But I'm confident it will be one day.

I'm not trying to slag anything off for the record. I just want this to be perfect.
