Xbox control triggers?

Anybody else have the problem of the triggers on an xbox one controller not wanting to work at the same time? I have them set for either brake but using them both just makes them let go

Oddly, when i got my XB1 Elite controller it was a seperate axis, the tried my 360 controller again and now its not.... Even re-installed.
