Does leaning actually help you turn?

Is it just me, or does anyone else think that leaning does not affect cornering? I would think if you leaned into a corner you could turn sharper, but that does not seem to be the case. 

I ride lean gain on 80% and leaning opposite direction does make the turn sharper. Wihout useing it can't make as sharp turns, than guys that use 100% lean gain.

you dont want to lean into the corner you want to lean towards the outside. so if your turning left you want to lean right. definitely does help
