Yep, used it at work all day today.  Still getting all my software setup as I need it but so far it is a much needed improvement over my old HP.

Not sure why that one picture is bigger than the other.  Oh well.

How did you ever actually end up convincing your dad it will make more money?
::)

Seems like with those gaming parts it just may do the opposite ;)

bearded4glory

The workstation parts are more expensive and perform roughly the same.  Could have probably used a air cooler and saved a little money but water looks so much better.  Now I want a H440 and a custom loop for my home build.  That one is more wild than this one with a 4930k and 32gb of ram.

Except you don't look that often inside your PC, especially when playing :)

+1 for air cooling: cheaper, almost same performances (unless you overclock heavily) and much quieter.
Not to mention that if in 3yrs from now an air cooler breaks down it's no big deal, while if a water cooler leaks ...

Update: Added Pics.
Intel i5 4690k devils canyon.
MSI geforce gtx 770 4gb.
Asrock z97 extreme 4.
Corsair vengeance lp 8gb(2x4gb)
Corsair CX 750 PSU.
Samsung DVD rewriter.
Zalman z11 case.
Coolermaster hyper evo 212
Note: i might eventually get a modular PSU as opposed to a non-modular. I used less that half of all the cables which makes it a it of a pain for cable management. all in all tho im happy with my virgin build. :)

Meh, my Noctua D-14 is way louder than the X61 at the same load levels and keeps it quieter.  I think the warranty on it is 7 years or something so I will have a new/updated computer by then.

I can see right in the side of the window while I am sitting at my desk!  It is important that it looks good inside to me!

Modular or semi modular is the only way to go, looks good though.  That is a beast of a graphics card, I have a EVGA 770SC 4gb in my home computer and it is awesome.

Looks good Moto28.  Wasn't to hard to build and get setup right?

For the love of god reroute those fan cables so they aren't detracting from all your hard work!

moto28

It actually did take quite a while to get all setup but it was just completely stupid mistakes. It took me about 2 hours to find the power button.

The power button is that giant glowing rubber X and i had no idea and i was just pressing the reset button wondering why it wouldnt turn on haha. I remember i felt like crying and the i looked it up and it was the X button and i was just like well worth a try. And i hit the button and lights and fans started spinning and i felt like shouting leeroy jenkins.

One of the happiest moments ever haha and then my cpu fan wasny spinning but i fixed that aswell.

But yes i rewired the fan cables

bearded4glory

Hahaha, that is classic.  Every time I put a CPU in I get all freaked out that I am going to screw it up but nothing else bothers me.

moto28

The cpu installation was the easiest thing i did  ;D

I installed it within 15 seconds and took barely any precaution i was mostly worried about motherboard installation

lol I feel bearded's pain, the cpu you would be easy as your using a stock cooler with pre-installed thermal paste. For us who choose to use performance coolers its a lot sketchier lol. You need to apply your own paste and be super steady and careful... I fear I made need to do mine again.

bearded4glory my brother has the exact same case as you haha

bearded4glory

I don't care about the cooler just if I put the CPU in the wrong direction or have a little static on my hands I can fry it.  It just sketches me out cuz its one of the most expensive pieces but can be damaged easily.
