Basic Track Tutorial
« on: October 25, 2018, 07:22:04 PM »
Hey guys I made a very basic track tutorial. Hopefully with this video combined with PhiliaN"s Text guide http://forum.mx-bikes.com/index.php?topic=1068.0 , TFC's tutorials http://forum.mx-bikes.com/index.php?topic=749.0 , and PiBoso's guides http://docs.piboso.com/wiki/index.php/MXB_Track_Creation_Guide http://docs.piboso.com/wiki/index.php?title=TrackEd will help others make custom tracks.
Also here's Asdrael's guides for Building a replica SX trackhttp://forum.mx-bikes.com/index.php?topic=1194.0 and his Sx track creation kit http://forum.mx-bikes.com/index.php?topic=1456.0

Apologies upfront for no audio in second half, dog chewed up my mic. That's what I get for leaving it on the floor lol.

One question...

I see you use photoshop, can the same be done with GIMP 2.10.6?

i have been trying to make a heightmap for days and have had no luck as I get stuck at the mask layer.

I'm not familiar with gimp, I only know it's similar to photoshop.  Sorry I can't be more help with that. Maybe this can help you some. https://youtu.be/hHJAJziWDs0

GIMP can do everything the game. The problem is finding the name and the shortcut of the tool, which is always different from PS...

Thanks guys

I have the heightmap figured out but where I am having trouble is with the layer mask.

I follow the tutorials but when it says to turn on the RGB channel after duplicating the red I donít have a channel marked RGB therefore my mask doesnít change colour and when I view and ride my layout it is all grass.

I have tried different settings but so far nothing changes.

Try opening one of the mask.tga's from the example files in gimp to see how it comes up, don't think its gonna change the color like in photoshop. I just downloaded gimp on my mac to see how it comes up. Open the mask example, then click channels to see how it shows up. You might be able to figure it out from that. Looks like when you open a mask it shows layer as blank with a white path. Click channels and the Alpha channel will show black with white path. Looks like the RGB in gimp just shows red, green, blue. where photoshop shows RGB, red, green, blue. So try to mimic the example masks file to see if you can get it to work. Hope this helps some, again sorry I can't be more help with gimp.
