I need some track making tips.

How can i make my track more noticeable with a single tiled texture?

Cant see shit xD
in order to make a playable track you have to test it, i refuse to make a new mask for every little change i do on the layout/jumps, so, is there a way to make more shadows, or bake them, or a strong Ao, or anything! xD

Thanks in advance, i might get stuck again and request help in this same thread, cheers!  ;D

Only using one texture is going to be pretty tough, but you can make it stand out more using normals (see example folder, i.e dirt.tga with dirt_n.tga and dirt.shd)

I've found the best way to do it though is every time you make a significant change to your heightmap, make a copy resize to 2048x2048, save as tga and use it on it's own repeating once.. i.e:

layer0
{
   map = heightmap_copy.tga
   repetitions = 1
}

That saves messing about with masks. I've never managed to see every detail without doing either masks or the once repeating heightmap.

Hope that helps!

Nice one Geo, never thought of doing that!  :D

Thanks guys, i´m using both tricks and works pretty well!  ;D

No need to update the track base texture each time right? *Cough*lazy*cough*  ;D

Edit:
Another problem, i cant get my bike to respawn where i crashed, i always start either on the pits or a random place.

Centerline is done and closed, i have 11 checkpoints, pits and starting grid.

Any toughts?

yeah, i will try again to be sure  :)

Edit:
Nope, i´ll redraw the centerline, maybe that´s the issue?

Mace-x

It didnt  :'(
i´ll keep looking for the issue >:(

Mace-x

So, i thought i´ll try again on the track creation stuff, i was pretty close last time until the damn centerline fucked me up  :-[

Anyone would be willing to check the track for me?
i´ve looked at every file, all the things are well, i even changed the starting line and pits in case that was the issue, nothing :/

If anyone thinks that can help tell me what to send you, thanks!  :)

Mace-x

Please help me here guys!

i always end up restarting in the same position of the track, no matter where i fall.

in this one o restart on the bottom right always.

In this one i restart on the uper u turn.

I´ve redone centerline, pits, starting gate, changed position of pits, everything at least 5 times per track and i cant get it to work, i really want to make tracks but this is so frustrating, i even tryed using fat´s paleta raceway .rdf and nothing, i´m all out, i can either let the track rot in my hdd or give them for someone who wants to help me, i´d really appreciate a solution since i want to finish them!  :'(

Anyone? pleaseeeee!  :(

Not the "dynamic surface" that is not needed for MX tracks.
Top bar -> Draw -> Surfaces

I have no idea what that is for and how to modify it  :-[

Altrought lost lands worked just fine without modifying it. :o

The three surface layers ( off, pits and start ) should be changed to match the track.
You can see how they work loading the official tracks in TrackEd.
