Title: Connection Time Out
Post by: Proxyyiv on February 15, 2023, 11:25:54 PM
I know there are a thousand posts about this, but I have looked through many of them and have not found a clear answer. Myself, friend 1, and friend 2 are trying to play in a lobby together. I can join friend 1 & 2, but friend 1 can't join friend two & vice versa, and neither can join me. I have good internet, but both of them usually have high pings. Is the latency what could be causing this issue and is there anyway around that? We have tried using VPNs & opening ports on routers to no success. This is very aggravating as one of the main reasons I play this game is to play with them.

Do any of you get connection timeouts when trying to join public servers?

Anything but a connection timeout, like stuck syncing or crashing, usually indicates something wrong with the game itself. The connection timeout, if permanent and on all public servers, is thought to be an ISP issue with how they deal with IPv4 and IPv6 as it all started around the mass introduction of IPv6 a number of years ago.

Not sure which side of things you have a problem with, maybe both tbh from what you say.

Btw when you play are any of you on the same local network together?

If you try a couple of times, it sometimes works.
