Bug Reports / rx 6000 performance issues
February 15, 2022, 09:02:09 PM
After the last 17d update the ground textures are finally back to normal! The only drawback currently still seems to be performance issues with the rx6000 cards specifically in multiplayer. I have a 6800xt. For reference playing round 3 of the Ariel SX tracks by myself my framerate is pushing 130+. When I go into multiplayer my framerate dropped to below 15 during the start of the gate drop till slightly after the first turn. During the race my framerate was regularly going under 40 and being spiky making it feel very jittery. This was with roughly 10-14 people during the race. The less people close together the better the framerate.

Quote from: PizzaChet on December 13, 2021, 01:40:50 AMI haven't had a Radeon card in 10 years or so. Since I depended on OpenGL for MX Sim, back when I had a Radeon I had to roll back the CCC drivers sometimes for it to work. I eventually discovered that wasn't an issue with NVidia when I switched. I remember this exact same problem on another texture some years ago(maybe rFactor dirt tracks?) and it was unique to Radeon cards.
Yep, AMD's windows opengl driver has some problems including software such as blender as well (goes for their workstation version as well). Hopefully pibs can gradually work on moving to vulkan but thats a pretty big undertaking. It just sucks for a group of us since we cant really even play the game much less race. I had a friend who had either a 5000 or 500 series card, when I showed him my problem he stated thats what he was having as well so it may not just be only us on the 6000 series of cards.

Quote from: fridgedollar on December 10, 2021, 03:43:15 PMthis is an issue with the RX 6000 series gpus, there is no known fix yet unfortunately. some other guys here have the same problem
Yep, it seems related to AMD's opengl driver for windows for these cards and it seems like something that wont be resolved for a very long time if at all unless AMD does something (doubtful) or pibs ends up using a different graphics api. Linux seems fine for other software that shares similar issues with these cards, but linux also has an open source driver for AMD thats actually cared for by misc people. I reported this over a year ago to no avail.

Not sure if it would cause it, but are you triangulating before you export it out? Perhaps when MXB does it it breaks the mesh?

Quote from: REDSalvation on October 17, 2021, 03:14:26 PMTurn off reflections and shaders, it makes it (more) playable!
Good FPS on 6700XT and only flickering further in front of me.
That atleast makes it playable, still drops from 180+fps down to low 80's but its not stuttering.

I'M PATHETIC!
ftfy
You may not understand quite how bad it actually is lol. When the frames drop from other riders its not nearly as smooth as the video shows it to be (recorded at 30fps), it has a horrendous stutter that feels like its spiking between 15-30fps constantly even when its at 40-60fps

PATHETIC!
this isnt the only software that has this issue, blender has it (horrid when weight painting), arma 3 has somewhat of it but without flickering but it does carry the performance issues but its atleast steady. so far mxb unfortunately is the worst when it comes to it with horrid flickering and unplayable multiplayer stuttering. currently theres really nothing pibs can do unless hes able to get his hands on one of these cards which you should even know is a giant pain unless he pays some inbred scalper. be patient, if ive been able to wait since the literal release day of this card for a fix you can have some patience (i know thats asking alot out of the people in the mx game community as it seems like 3/4 are some of the dumbest most useless people ive ever met (just look at the mxs community that is now merged here)).

Support / Re: Stuck at 30fps
June 09, 2021, 09:48:39 PM
Quote from: MattMurphy on June 01, 2021, 04:56:32 PMHi guys, 980ti & Ryzen 2700x, I've played this game flawlessly before.
I've installed it through Steam, initially I installed ReShade too, but the FPS was stuck at 30. I then deleted everything to do with reshade and reinstalled the game, still the same thing. I don't have the FPS counter up so I'm assuming it is still stuck at 30, but it's pretty unplayable anyway.
Graphics drivers are all up to date. I've tried sticking all the settings on minimum and it doesn't change anything.
Any help appreciated!
Cheers
Whats your monitors refresh rate set to. Enable the fps counter in steam and see what the framerate is really at and see if its locked at 30fps or if its just spiking all over the place. Check if VSync is enabled in both your nvidia control panel and game (if option is there I cant remember).

Bug Reports / Re: Texures flickering *AMD*
April 18, 2021, 08:49:44 PM
Yep your not alone. Ive also notice huge performance issues when theres multiple riders (6+) on screen as well that drops fps from 160+ down to a very stuttery 40. I feel like that might be related to the issue you stated when the dirt on the gear flickers (same issue here)

Quote from: PinnedOutGoon on February 28, 2021, 04:29:20 PMIs this part of the 'normal' physics of this game?
Yes. Its how you lean and handle the bike. Dont focus on the direction the tire turns and it will start to make sense after a few hours in the game.

Quote from: Hubchap on February 11, 2021, 12:03:47 AMDoes it do it when lock-to-bike is turned off or is it only when that setting is on?

Mine does it when it both on and off.

Maybe a bug related only to ATI ?
Any idea when the next update will be?

Thanks  ;D

yep, 6800xt here and im having the same issue as the video you linked and that OP posted along with the same flickering textures on my riders gear when dirt gets overlayed ontop of it. ive also noticed horrible performance once this started happening as well to where my old gtx 970 outperformed my 6800xt. the game is nearly unplayable when there is more than 4-5 people on screen at the same time

Quote from: FryedroPonics on July 25, 2019, 01:54:58 PMstill planning on doing a race?

its doubtful at this point, the plan was to have a race once a week on a new track until misc things started getting in the way. as of right now the only time id be able to host would be late at night so all the Europe guys wouldnt be able to due to the time difference.

Quote from: Asdrael on July 24, 2019, 10:25:50 AMNice track! I like it a lot. It flows nicely and the different options are there. I alos like the lap times, I think it's great for online play. Also, what is the surface type? Feels like soft soil and sand mix?

Just a few things:
- The monster triple jump might be a tad steep (kicking the rear) at take off and on landing (not enough room for error)
- the berms on the right hander 180 atop the hill could go a bit further
- there are 2 (I think?) 90° right hander where the berm just feels like a truck unloaded dirt, but that might just be my opinion.

Fun fantasy track though!

yes, soft soil + sand + soil(in the SX portion). your right about the big triple, it setup to be tapped on a 250f with the intention of roughness/deformation making it impossible to hit in certain areas to force new lines to develop but it just compresses your suspension to much on the takeoff unfortunately
